Responsibilities

Berkshire Hathaway GUARD Insurance Companies is seeking an experienced distribution leader to oversee field and virtual distribution across a broad Eastern footprint. This role includes both leadership responsibilities and direct involvement in distribution activities, with a focus on team development, agency relationships, and growth.

In this role, you will work closely with internal leaders to support distribution plans-representing products in the market, expanding regional presence, and leading a team of Territory Managers and Virtual Territory Managers. This position includes both planning and hands-on leadership responsibilities.

Eastern Region Coverage:ME, VT, NH, MA, CT, RI, NJ, NY, PA, WV, OH, KY, DE, DC, MD, VA, NC, SC, FL, GA, AL, TN, LA, MS

Lead Field and Virtual Distribution
  • Oversee and support Territory Managers and Virtual Territory Managers across the Eastern Region, including performance expectations, development, and day-to-day activities
  • Establish a consistent approach to distribution leadership that aligns with company priorities
  • Represent the organization internally and externally, including with agency partners
Strengthen Agency Relationships
  • Build and maintain agency relationships that support long-term business growth
  • Ensure alignment between agency approach, underwriting guidelines, and product offerings
  • Represent GUARD in agency interactions and maintain consistent engagement
Oversee Sales Execution
  • Oversee sales processes across the region using established metrics and expectations
  • Ensure use of tools, resources, and consistent sales activity
  • Maintain alignment between distribution activities and underwriting strategy
Support Regional Market Development
  • Work with distribution and underwriting leadership to identify opportunities for regional growth
  • Support territory planning and adjustments as needed
  • Contribute to broader distribution planning efforts
Use Market and Performance Data
  • Review agency performance, market trends, and competitor activity to support decision-making
  • Ensure regional plans reflect current market conditions while maintaining underwriting standards
  • Translate findings into clear actions that support performance
Qualifications

What You'll Bring

  • 5+ years of experience managing field distribution, including experience leading geographically dispersed sales teams
  • Experience developing and managing agency relationships
  • Knowledge of commercial insurance, including Workers' Compensation, Businessowners', Commercial Auto, and Umbrella
  • Familiarity with the Eastern Region, including agency networks and market conditions
  • Experience with sales processes, decision-making, and people management
  • Bachelor's degree preferred
  • Ability and willingness to travel regularly throughout the region
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel; experience with Power BI is a plus
  • Valid driver's license required and ability to meet company driving standards
