Virtual Event information

What is a virtual event?

Virtual events are gatherings or experiences that take place online rather than in a physical location. They can include conferences, webinars, workshops, trade shows, or networking sessions, all hosted using digital platforms. Virtual events allow participants to join from anywhere in the world, often featuring live or pre-recorded presentations, interactive sessions, and networking tools. They are increasingly popular for their convenience, cost-effectiveness, and ability to reach a global audience.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a virtual event coordinator, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Virtual Event Coordinator, you need strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and experience in event planning or hospitality, often supported by a relevant degree or certification. Familiarity with virtual event platforms (such as Zoom, Hopin, or Webex), project management tools, and basic audio/visual technology is essential. Excellent communication, problem-solving, and adaptability help you manage remote teams, engage online audiences, and resolve issues quickly. These skills are vital for delivering seamless, engaging virtual experiences that meet client goals and participant expectations.

What are some common challenges faced by professionals organizing virtual events, and how can they be addressed?

Organizing virtual events often involves challenges such as ensuring attendee engagement, managing technical issues, and coordinating with speakers across time zones. Addressing these requires proactive planning, including thorough platform testing, creating interactive content like polls and breakout sessions, and clear communication with all participants. Collaborating closely with technical support teams and utilizing project management tools can also help streamline logistics and deliver a smooth event experience.

Job description

The salary for this role is 13.56 per hour and up to 15.59 per hour across selected locations within London.ย
We're shaking up the beauty scene, and as a Boots Beauty Specialist, you'll be right at the centre of it. You'll be the go-to expert across skincare, makeup and haircare-getting to know your customers, understanding what they need, and guiding them to products that genuinely work for them.
What you'll be doing
This isn't your typical retail role. You'll be based in one of our vibrant Beauty Halls, working across premium and luxury brands to offer honest, unbiased advice-whether it's a cult favourite, a new launch or a trend everyone's talking about. It's all about creating feel-good moments, building trust and helping every customer leave feeling their best.
You'll report into the Beauty Assistant Manager and work towards sales targets as part of a supportive team-no individual commission, just shared success. With a generous product allowance, you'll have the chance to try premium products yourself.
Key Responsibilities
  • Work across all premium and luxury brands, offering unbiased recommendations
  • Meet sales targets as part of a supportive team (no commission pressure here!)
  • Create standout customer experiences through natural, confident conversations
  • Bring new products, offers and launches to life in-store
  • Keep the beauty hall and counters looking their best - clean, stocked and ready to explore
  • Build your expertise through hands-on brand training, comprehensive online learning and our famous in-person and virtual events and conferences
  • Get involved in social content, in-store events and campaigns

What you'll need to have (our must-haves)
  • A real passion for beauty, skincare, haircare and helping people feel their best
  • Confident to approach customers, start conversations and build connections
  • The drive to meet and exceed sales goals
  • Able to communicate clearly and understand people's needs
  • Curiosity and a proactive attitude to learning new techniques and products

It would be great if you also have
  • Experience working in beauty retail or target-based roles
  • A creative interest in creating social content

Where your brilliance can take you
There are endless possibilities here at Boots. You could step into a Senior Beauty Specialist or Beauty Assistant Manager role, explore our Beauty Training teams or store leadership, or even join our Nottingham-based Support Office. Wherever you want to go, we'll support you to be brilliant with Boots and building a rewarding career.
Rewards designed for you
  • Quarterly product allowance, up to 1000/year* (*subject to number of hours worked per week)
  • Generous employee discount across Boots and our partner brands
  • Ongoing expert training from leading beauty brands and experts
  • Boots Retirement Savings Plan
  • Discretionary annual bonus
  • Enhanced maternity/paternity/adoption leave pay, and a gift card for those expecting or adopting
  • Flexible benefits scheme; holiday buying, gym discounts, life assurance and more
  • 24/7 counselling and wellbeing support through TELUS Health, our Employee Assistance Programme

There's lots more in our rewards and benefits package, MyBoosts, our way of helping you get the most out of the good stuff. Find out more at http://boots.jobs/rewards.
