Job Title: Supply Chain Management Intern

Position Overview: The Supply Chain Management Intern will play a pivotal role in driving continuous improvements in the purchasing and sourcing departments' processes, tools, and systems. They will actively participate in the development and implementation of business strategies focused on optimizing supply chain operations, minimizing costs, improving quality, and assessing supplier performance through scorecard activities. Moreover, the intern will support the seamless flow and timely delivery of assigned commodities in alignment with MRP messaging and specific sales and service requirements, leveraging strategies like JIT and VMI as appropriate. Additionally, they will apply analytical skills to lead various practical process improvement projects and collaborate cross-functionally to resolve inventory, production, and supplier return issues as they arise, ensuring the accuracy and integrity of ERP supplier data and costing elements.
Location: Onsite, Kalamazoo, MI. This position is full time (40 weekly hours) over the summer and part-time (12-20 weekly hours) during the semester.
What you will do:
  • Assist with data collection, analysis, and reporting related to inventory, logistics, and supplier performance.
  • Support the SCM team in optimizing inventory levels and improving supply chain efficiency.
  • Participate in the development and implementation of supply chain improvement initiatives. Collaborate with internal departments (e.g., Production, Procurement, Sales) to ensure smooth supply chain operations.
  • Assist with order processing, tracking, and resolution of supply chain-related issues.
  • Conduct research on supply chain best practices and emerging technologies.
  • Prepare presentations and reports for SCM management.

Qualifications & Skills:
  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor's in Supply Chain Management, Chemistry, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Must be enrolled in a degree program for the fall semester.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Prior coursework or projects related to supply chain principles is a plus.

Compensation: The anticipated hiring rate for this position is $25/hr.
