Controller
Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Controller to lead our accounting and finance functions, with particular emphasis on manufacturing and batch production cost accounting. The Controller will ensure accurate, timely financial reporting in accordance with GAAP, manage monthend close and budgeting processes, maintain strong internal controls, and support operational decisionmaking through analysis and reporting (including Power BI). A CPA or equivalent experience in manufacturing environments is preferred.
Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage the full accounting cycle including monthend close, general ledger maintenance, journal entries, reconciliations, and financial statement preparation in accordance with GAAP.
  • Oversee cost accounting for manufacturing and batch production processes, including product costing, standard cost maintenance, variances analysis, and inventory valuation.
  • Develop, maintain, and improve financial controls, policies, procedures, and SOX compliance where applicable to mitigate risk and ensure financial integrity.
  • Prepare timely internal and external financial reports, management dashboards and KPIs; leverage Power BI and other reporting tools to deliver actionable insights to operations and leadership.
  • Manage budgeting, forecasting and longrange planning processes; partner with operations and production teams to align financial plans with manufacturing capacity and strategy.
  • Coordinate and support annual audits, tax filings, and regulatory compliance; serve as primary liaison with auditors and tax advisors.
  • Supervise, coach and develop the finance and accounting team; set priorities, delegate tasks, and ensure high performance and professional growth.
  • Drive continuous improvement of accounting processes and system implementations (ERP/financial systems), including automation and data integrity initiatives to increase efficiency and accuracy.
  • Provide financial analysis and decision support for cost reduction, pricing, capital investments and operational improvements related to batch manufacturing.
  • Collaborate crossfunctionally with operations, supply chain, manufacturing, and senior leadership to translate financial performance into operational actions.

Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance or related field; CPA strongly preferred.
  • 7+ years of progressive accounting experience with at least 3 years in a senior accounting or controllership role; experience in manufacturing/batch manufacturing required.
  • Deep knowledge of GAAP, cost accounting methodologies, inventory valuation and variance analysis.
  • Demonstrated experience with batch manufacturing costing, standard cost systems and production cost drivers.
  • Proficiency with financial reporting and business intelligence tools; experience building dashboards and reports in Power BI preferred.
  • Handson experience with ERP systems and advanced Excel skills; familiarity with system implementations and process automation.
  • Strong leadership and people management skills with experience developing and mentoring accounting staff.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; ability to present financial information clearly to nonfinancial stakeholders.
  • High attention to detail, strong analytical and problemsolving abilities, and a continuous improvement mindset.
