Job Description:

Kidney Specialist of Southern Nevada (KSOSN) is seeking a dedicated Clinical Laboratory Scientist to join our laboratory team in Las Vegas, Nevada. This role is focused on test understanding, management, and optimization within our laboratory platform. This role combines clinical expertise with technology integration to ensure accurate test interpretation, quality assurance, and seamless laboratory operations.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Test Management & Understanding

  • Analyze and interpret complex laboratory test results across multiple disciplines including clinical chemistry, hematology, microbiology, immunology, and molecular diagnostics
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive test protocols, procedures, and documentation within the platform
  • Collaborate with healthcare providers to clarify test orders, results interpretation, and clinical significance
  • Monitor test performance metrics and identify opportunities for process improvement
  • Ensure compliance with clinical laboratory standards and regulatory requirements (CLIA, CAP, FDA)

Platform Operations

  • Manage laboratory information system (LIS) functionality and troubleshoot technical issues
  • Configure and validate new tests and assays within the platform
  • Maintain accurate test catalogs, reference ranges, and clinical decision support tools
  • Perform quality control review and validation of automated results
  • Generate and analyze quality assurance reports and metrics

Clinical Support & Communication

  • Provide expert consultation on test selection, interpretation, and clinical utility
  • Conduct virtual training sessions for laboratory staff and healthcare providers
  • Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings and case discussions via video conference
  • Respond to critical value notifications and communicate urgent results to clinicians
  • Support customer service inquiries related to laboratory testing

Quality Assurance & Compliance

  • Review and approve laboratory policies, procedures, and protocols

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology, Clinical Laboratory Science, or related field.
  • Current certification as a Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) or Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS) by ASCP, AMT, or equivalent certifying agency.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience working in a laboratory.
  • Proficiency in laboratory techniques including blood sampling, specimen collection processing, and clinical laboratory practices.
