Job description

The Senior Systems Engineer will play a pivotal role in our organization, leading virtualization projects and ensuring optimal performance and scalability of our systems. This role involves managing private cloud virtual estates, executing hypervisor refresh projects, and providing strategic input to enhance our infrastructure. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in enterprise systems engineering, with hands-on experience in virtualization technologies and a passion for continuous improvement.
  • 5+ years of experience in enterprise systems engineering, with deep virtualization expertise (Nutanix, VMware, Hyper-V) in large-scale environments.
  • Proven track record in planning and executing large hypervisor migrations, with experience in environments exceeding 100 hosts/1000 VMs.
  • Strong grasp of VM capacity and performance analysis, including right-sizing memory and CPU allocations.
  • Experience with private cloud solutions from Nutanix or VMware, and HCI deployments.
  • Proficiency in PowerShell/scripting for reporting and automation tasks.
  • Ability to operate in a regulated environment with formal change management processes.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work independently on complex technical problems.
  • Enthusiasm for AI tooling and automation, with a focus on improving operational efficiency.
  • Experience with Kubernetes on hypervisors and expanding virtualization to public cloud is desirable.
  • Familiarity with charge-back/show-back for virtual offerings and micro-segmentation technologies is a plus.

Compensation Expectations: $180,000 - $200,000 Base Salary

  • Manage private cloud virtual estates across multiple datacenters, with a focus on scaling to public cloud providers.
  • Oversee hosted Kubernetes solutions and virtualization-native automation for self-service.
  • Perform capacity management and performance engineering for HCI, 3-tier, and cloud deployments.
  • Adopt a customer-centric approach to product management for the virtualization offering.
  • Implement FinOps and reporting for the virtualization platform.
  • Configure hypervisors to maintain security baselines and automate processes.
  • Train and mentor junior engineers, fostering a culture of knowledge sharing.
  • Liaise with internal and external stakeholders to ensure smooth project execution.
