About the role:

The Windows Endpoint team is looking for an engineer to help manage the Windows fleet including endpoint management, patching, administration and automation using technologies such as Intune, Configuration Manager, and PowerShell.

What you will do

  • Design, implement and maintain our Windows-based endpoint environment, including endpoint management, patch management, security management and deployment automation

  • Evaluate new technologies related to end user computing for use in the corporate enterprise to enable our knowledge workers

  • Develop standard work environments on company owned devices to ensure usability, performance and security requirements are maintained

  • Automate end user support activities to include packaging of software and scripting of support tasks

  • Automate service desk and desktop support tasks using various scripting languages (PowerShell)

  • Assist with packaging all Gartner owned software for deployment via Enterprise distribution methods using Configuration Manager (formerly System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM)) and Microsoft Intune

  • Leverage DEX (Digital Employee Experience) tools to proactively optimize and manage the employee experience on Windows endpoints.

  • Lead the design and development of DEX-based remote actions and dashboards to drive actionable insights and improve operational efficiency.

  • Administration of Configuration Manager and Intune to include metrics/reporting using various tools

  • Leverage AI-driven tools (e.g., Gemini, Copilot) to assist in scripting, diagnostics, hypothesis generation, and resolution drafting.

  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends and emerging endpoint security and management technologies

  • Work with the team to coach Gartner's internal support teams via email communications, videos, virtual training sessions, and the creation/maintenance of knowledgebase articles and support documentation.

  • Work within ITIL Change Management process to shepherd planned changes

What you will need:

  • 2+ years managing the Automation of tasks using various scripting languages (PowerShell) to better support the service desk and desktop support

  • 3+ years of experience using Intune/Configuration Manager to manage and deploy Windows devices

  • Packaging and distribution of applications using Configuration Manager.

  • Experience with Windows Patching using Windows Autopatch/Windows Update for Business, WSUS/CM, Software Update Groups (SUG), and Automatic Deployment Rules (ADR), 3rd party patching.

Good to have:

  • Hybrid Active Directory, Azure Active Directory

  • Microsoft Azure

  • 2+ years of experience managing devices using Configuration Manager (aka CM, SCCM, MECM)

  • Experience using Autopilot to deploy Windows devices via Microsoft Intune

  • Supporting Windows 365 Cloud PCs, Azure Virtual Desktop (Windows Virtual Desktop) or another similar VDI solution (Citrix, Amazon Workspaces)

  • Active Directory Users and Computers

  • PowerBI and reporting

  • Intune Configuration policies/Group Policy

  • Experience with DEX (Digital Employee Experience) tools

  • Experience with Microsoft Windows

  • Experience with Microsoft Office 365 and Office Configuration Manager

Gartner believes in fair and equitable pay. A reasonable estimate of the base salary range for this role is 86,000 USD - 118,000 USD. Please note that actual salaries may vary within the range, or be above or below the range, based on factors including, but not limited to, education, training, experience, professional achievement, business need, and location. In addition to base salary, employees will participate in either an annual bonus plan based on company and individual performance, or a role-based, uncapped sales incentive plan.
