Role Description This is a contract, hybrid Automation Engineer – Manufacturing role based in Devens, MA, with some flexibility for work from home. In this position, the Automation Engineer will design, implement, and optimize automated manufacturing systems, ensuring stable and efficient production processes. Day-to-day responsibilities include configuring and maintaining process control systems, troubleshooting equipment and control issues, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to improve reliability, throughput, and product quality. The role involves supporting robotics and automated equipment, documenting changes and procedures, and ensuring compliance with relevant manufacturing and safety standards. The Automation Engineer will also contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and provide technical guidance to operations and maintenance personnel.


Key Responsibilities:

• Lead troubleshooting and problem-solving for equipment and machine control systems

• Design, program, modify, and troubleshoot PLCs, HMIs, SCADA, AC/DC Drives, Vision Systems, and Robot Controllers

• Develop and maintain P&IDs, wiring schematics, and I/O drawings

• Support equipment design, FAT, SAT, startup, commissioning, and validation

• Drive OEE improvement, scrap reduction, uptime, and manufacturing efficiency

• Perform root cause analysis and implement robust technical solutions

• Support continuous improvement and equipment lifecycle strategies

• Collaborate with Maintenance, Quality, Manufacturing, and Engineering teams

• Maintain cGMP compliance and support qualification activities

• Provide technical leadership and training for equipment and control systems
