POSITION: Middle School Social Studies Teacher

LOCATION: High Point Academy 6750 N. Dunkirk Street Aurora, CO

COMPENSATION:

SALARY: $50,00-80,00 Based on licensure and years of experience.

Qualifications:

  • Must have a Bachelor's Degree in any field and the willingness/ability to enroll in a program to obtain licensure.
  • Colorado teaching credential is preferred
  • Experience with EL Education or project-based learning preferred
  • Strong commitment to working with diverse racial/cultural populations is required

Key Responsibilities:

  • Drive student learning to growth and proficiency outcomes by using data.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of the content, central concepts, inquiry, appropriate evidence-based instructional practices, and specialized characteristics of the disciplines being taught.
  • Deliver lessons in accordance with given curriculum and schoolwide coaching.
  • Create and maintain a connected and positive classroom environment for all students.
  • Be the owner of your development by engaging in professional development, directing your own learning, and being a lifelong learner.
  • Lead Pack - lead social emotional learning and building relationships, develop executive functioning, and joy for a cohort of students.
  • Collaboration with colleagues, coaches, administrators, service providers, and families.
  • School duties including arrival and dismissal, lunch and recess, and classroom coverage
  • Support and inclusive learning environment for all learners to succeed and grow including students with identified needs through 504s, GT, Sped, and English Language Development.
  • Professional behavior and communication is required.
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor or Executive Director.

High Point Academy is a public charter school serving students from Pre-Kindergarten through 8th grade. Located in Aurora, CO, just north of Green Valley Ranch (10 minutes from Denver International Airport), HPA serves an ethnically diverse student population which includes 30% linguistically diverse students and 60% of students that qualify for Free or Reduced Lunch. HPA is an award-winning wellness school whose curriculum and classes promote healthy lifestyle choices.

Physical Demands

The essential functions of a teaching job include regular talking, hearing, standing, squatting, bending, and kneeling. The position is active and requires the person to be monitoring the movement and behaviors of children throughout the day. The employee must be able to operate a computer and other office equipment. The employee must also be able to use their vision to complete tasks that require depth perception, focus adjustment, near, far, and peripheral vision. The employee must lift and/or move items up to 30 pounds.
