The Virginia Economic Development Partnership (VEDP) is seeking a Talent Data and Insights Analyst to support the Talent and Workforce Strategy team by delivering analysis, research, reporting, and data visualization to inform talent solutions, advance key talent initiatives, and strengthen internal team performance and strategy.

Responsibilities:

  • Assess data-related needs for talent solutions
  • Pull raw data from public, subscription-based, and proprietary databases
  • Conduct basic analyses to include summary statistics and trends
  • Visualize data for consumption by external partners
  • Oversee all Salesforce activities and deliverables, including reports and dashboards
  • Provide data and analysis for briefing memos for the Governor and Secretaryโ€™s offices in advance of calls to companies
  • Track progress on talent-related initiatives to include operational and strategic plans
  • Maintain inventory of talent-related data
  • Conduct exploratory analyses of data using quantitative and qualitative methods to identify insights and trends
  • Skills Required:

    • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to summarize complex information clearly and accurately and translate to non-technical audiences
    • Ability to translate data and research into clear insights for internal teams and external partners
    • Demonstrated experience conducting quantitative research, including collecting, cleaning, organizing, analyzing, and interpreting data
    • Experience with labor market, education, workforce, or economic development data sources, such as BLS, Census, Lightcast, JobsEQ, state workforce data, or similar datasets
    • Strong project management and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and support cross-functional projects
    • Strong proficiency with Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint, including the ability to develop clear analyses, charts, dashboards, and presentation-ready materials
    • Experience using Salesforce or a similar CRM/database platform to maintain records, develop reports, support dashboards, and improve data quality
    • Demonstrated interest in economic development, workforce development, business engagement, or talent strategy

    Skills Preferred:

  • Knowledge of Virginiaโ€™s economic development, workforce, education, and/or business support ecosystem.
  • Experience developing client-facing deliverables
  • Experience leveraging AI tools to improve research, analysis, reporting, data visualization, and/or workflow efficiency
  • Experience working with or supporting public-sector, higher education, workforce, or economic development partners
  • Experience:

    • 3-5 years of experience in economics, data analytics, statistics, public policy, or related field
