Job description

Accounting & HR Operations Specialist

Location: Remote (Texas Preferred)

Are you someone who enjoys bringing order to complexity, improving processes, and making a meaningful impact? Our client is seeking an experienced Accounting & HR Operations Specialist to join their growing organization. This is an excellent opportunity for a self-starter who thrives in a fast-paced environment and enjoys wearing multiple hats across finance and human resources.

This role is much more than day-to-day accounting and HR administration. The ideal candidate is someone who can connect the dots across the organization, identify inefficiencies, implement new tools and processes, and help build a scalable operational foundation. If you're energized by continuous improvement and enjoy creating better ways of working, this could be the perfect opportunity.

What You'll Do

Financial Operations

  • Manage invoicing, billing quality control, and accounts receivable follow-up.
  • Review timesheets, pay rates, bill rates, expenses, and billing data for accuracy.
  • Support payroll processing, audits, and financial reporting.
  • Process employee and contractor expense reimbursements.
  • Partner with external accounting professionals to ensure smooth financial operations.
  • Maintain accurate financial records and supporting documentation.
  • Assist with workers' compensation, insurance, and client audits.

HR Operations

  • Coordinate employee and contractor onboarding and offboarding.
  • Administer benefits, employment verifications, background checks, and HR documentation.
  • Maintain HRIS data integrity and employee personnel files.
  • Support payroll changes, compensation updates, deductions, and compliance activities.
  • Assist with open enrollment, policy administration, and employee communications.
  • Support employee engagement initiatives and organizational culture programs.

Process Improvement & Operations

  • Evaluate current workflows and identify opportunities to improve efficiency.
  • Recommend and help implement new tools, systems, and technologies that streamline operations.
  • Develop scalable processes that support the company's continued growth.
  • Collaborate across departments to improve communication, accountability, and operational effectiveness.
  • Take ownership of projects and proactively drive improvements rather than simply maintaining existing processes.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in accounting, payroll, HR operations, business operations, or a related field.
  • Experience supporting both accounting and HR functions in a growing organization.
  • Proficiency with QuickBooks, Microsoft Excel, and HRIS/payroll systems.
  • Experience with invoicing, payroll administration, benefits administration, onboarding, and employee records.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work independently.
  • Experience within staffing, consulting, professional services, or project-based organizations is highly preferred.

Who You Are

You're naturally curious, organized, and solutions-oriented. You don't just complete tasks—you look for opportunities to improve them. You're comfortable taking initiative, asking questions, connecting the dots between departments, and implementing better ways of working. You enjoy being a trusted business partner who helps create efficient, scalable processes that support organizational growth.

Why You'll Love This Opportunity

  • Opportunity to make a visible impact within a growing organization.
  • Collaborative leadership team that values initiative and new ideas.
  • The chance to help build and improve business processes while influencing operational success.
  • Competitive benefits package, including:
    • Medical Insurance
    • Dental Insurance
    • Vision Insurance
    • Health Savings Account (HSA)
    • Life Insurance
    • Retirement Plan
    • Paid Time Off (PTO)

If you're looking for an opportunity where your expertise will be valued, your ideas will be heard, and your work will directly contribute to the growth and success of the organization, we'd love to speak with you.
