Job description

The Duckhorn Portfolio is North America’s premier luxury wine company. We were established in 1976 by Dan and Margaret Duckhorn. Today, our portfolio features some of North America’s most revered wineries, including Decoy, Goldeneye, Calera, Kosta Browne, Sonoma-Cutrer, and Greenwing.


The Vineyard Manager is responsible for overseeing all labor operations across our Napa Valley estate vineyards, while also supporting broader North Coast vineyard operations as needed, with a focus on maintaining and advancing Duckhorn Farming philosophies and objectives as related to fruit quality, vine health and balance, sustainability, safety, redevelopment, and estate acreage growth opportunities.


What we will ask you to do:

  • Understand, follow, and enforce all safety protocols as outlined in the company IIPP and as required by OSHA.
  • Oversee redevelopment projects for Estate Vineyards, and assist Director, North Coast Estate Vineyard Operation in keeping projects on time and on budget.
  • Adhere to annual farming budgets and collaborate with the Director, North Coast Vineyard Operations in monthly budget vs. actual reviews.
  • Manage outside labor resources, planning, scheduling, and safety.
  • Responsible for the hiring, development, training, and disciplinary actions of all estate vineyard personnel.
  • Responsible for accurate management of AgCode (farming payroll tracking system), including processing and authorization.
  • Partner with Company Viticulturist on vineyard issues, such as vineyard trails and vine health practices in producing high-quality grapes meeting DWC standards and expectations.
  • Ensure programs emphasizing sustainability and compliance with specific certification processes (Green Farming) in collaboration with the Viticulture team are implemented.
  • Coordinate with the Vineyard Shop Manager/ Mechanic to ensure all vehicles and equipment receive regular maintenance and repairs as needed.

What you will need:

  • BS in Viticulture or related Science or equivalent.
  • Minimum 5–7 years of experience farming premium Napa Valley grapes, including at least 3–5 years in a vineyard supervisory or managerial role.
  • Formal safety and pesticide training.
  • Valid California drivers license with clean record.
  • Computer skills including email/ Outlook, Ag Management software (AgCode), database management, spreadsheets, and word processing.
  • Good organizational and communication skills.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish required.
  • Proficiency, if relevant, in machine operations to include: tractor, sprayer, flatbed truck, forklift, in proper use. of hand tools such as shovels, rakes, hoes, weed eater, rototiller, chainsaw.
