Job description

Xumo, a joint venture between Comcast and Charter Communications, was formed to develop and offer a next-generation streaming platform for the entire entertainment industry. The company consists of three primary lines of business: Xumo devices, Xumo Play, and Xumo Enterprise. Xumo Play is a free ad-supported streaming TV (FAST) service offering hundreds of linear channels and on-demand options. Job Summary

This job supports the development, implementation, and maintenance of software, automation, configurations, and technical solutions used to operate and improve video platforms and services. The role applies foundational software and engineering practices to support video technology across legacy and next-generation environments.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities include writing and maintaining code and scripts, developing automation, supporting system integrations, performing testing and validation, and troubleshooting technical issues with guidance from more experienced engineers. The job also supports the day-to-day reliability of video platforms through monitoring, incident response, system analysis, deployments, and technical changes. This includes reviewing logs and system behavior, assisting with issue investigation and resolution, following established technical and operational procedures, and documenting work and findings. The role works closely with software, video, infrastructure, network, and operations teams to apply engineering practices while contributing to platform reliability, continuous improvement, and automation.

  • Experience with programming and/or scripting languages such as Python, Typescript, or Javascript
  • Familiarity with Linux and command line interfaces (CLI)
  • Familiarity with video streaming technologies, such as HLS and DASH and a basic understanding of adaptive bitrate streaming
  • Exposure to cloud services and technologies such as AWS
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, effective communication, and willingness to learn new technologies
Position

Office based in Irvine, CA- 4 days/week & 1 day/week remote.

Responsibilities
  • Writing, testing, and maintaining code, scripts, automation, and technical tools that support video platforms and services
  • Assisting with the development and implementation of enhancements to video technology platforms, workflows, and supporting systems
  • Supporting the integration of video platforms with software applications, network systems, and other supporting technologies
  • Performing functional, integration, system, and operational testing to validate software, configurations, and platform changes
  • Reviewing system logs, monitoring information, and performance data to identify potential issues and assist with troubleshooting
  • Supporting break‑fix activities, configuration changes, software updates, and other technical changes in accordance with established procedures
  • Participating in deployments and production changes by completing required pre‑checks, implementation activities, testing, and post‑change validation
  • Working with experienced engineers and cross‑functional teams to investigate and resolve technical issues across video, server, and operations
  • Assisting with root cause analysis and documenting findings, recommending corrective actions, and lessons learned for technical issues and incidents
  • Creating and maintaining technical documentation, including procedures, configurations, testing results, deployment steps, and troubleshooting information
  • Identifying opportunities for automation, process improvement, and platform enhancements and supporting their implementation
  • Supporting scheduled deployments, service incidents, and infrastructure changes as required
  • Exercising independent judgment within established guidelines and procedures, with appropriate guidance and escalation for complex or significant matters
  • Maintaining regular, consistent, and punctual attendance

Compensation Pay Range

This job can be performed in California with a good faith estimated pay range upon hire of $48.98 - $65.31 USD. Comcast intends to offer the selected candidate base pay within the posted range for this role at the time of posting dependent on job-related, non-discriminatory factors such as experience. The application window is 30 days from the date job is posted, unless the number of applicants requires it to close sooner or later. Base pay is one part of the Total Rewards that Comcast provides to compensate and recognize employees for their work. Most sales positions are eligible for a Commission under the terms of an applicable plan, while most non-sales positions are eligible for a Bonus.
