Job description

About Rumpl

Rumpl is a category-defining brand that's reimagining comfort with bold design, technical performance, and a deep commitment to sustainability. We invented the modern outdoor blanket, but that was just the beginning. From artistic collaborations to ultra-packable puffy gear, we exist to celebrate the moments "after it," when the hike is done, the fire is lit, and connection begins.

At Rumpl, we blend innovation with creativity to inspire adventure, and we tell stories that resonate far beyond the trail. If you thrive in the wild, whether that's in the mountains or in the creative process, you might be our next great hire.

About the Role

As Rumpl's Graphic Designer, you're a trusted partner in our brand's visual expression, taking creative direction and campaign strategy and turning it into compelling, high-quality design across digital and marketing touchpoints, with minimal hand-holding. Your mission is to help shape how Rumpl shows up in the world through thoughtful, consistent, and impactful design that builds brand equity, drives engagement, and deepens emotional connection with our consumers.

You'll bring ideas to life through digital campaigns, social storytelling, campaign design, and print materials, balancing brand integrity with fresh, innovative thinking, and exercising real judgment on how a brief should come together. As a collaborative problem-solver and meticulous craftsman, you'll elevate Rumpl's visual presence and help ensure that every piece of content we publish looks and feels distinctly Rumpl, largely on your own steam.

What You'll Do

Creative Asset Development

  • Design and produce creative assets for social media, site content, email sends, and other owned and paid channels, from concept through final files
  • Own creative tasks end-to-end, balancing strategic intent with design craft and making sound creative calls without needing every decision reviewed
  • Ensure all creative aligns with Rumpl's brand guidelines and campaign narratives
  • Adapt and resize assets for multiple platforms and formats while maintaining consistency
  • Create responsive layouts and visual systems for Rumpl.com and digital platforms in Figma
  • Ensure designs adhere to best practices for web, email, and accessibility while optimizing for performance and load times

GTM (Go To Market) Execution

  • Independently execute GTM creative, from brief to delivery, with light oversight from the Director of Visual Design
  • Participate in ideation during creative brainstorms, mood boards, and storyboarding sessions
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Marketing, Ecommerce, Product, and Sales to ensure creative solutions meet business objectives, fielding and clarifying briefs directly
  • Apply brand guidelines consistently and help evolve them thoughtfully when necessary

Content Production & Support

  • Manage production design tasks including prepping final files, exporting assets, and managing delivery, with ownership of your own queue
  • Maintain and evolve digital design systems, templates, and libraries
  • Support content shoots and external creator collaboration, including on-set direction when needed

Creative Innovation & Exploration

  • Bring fresh thinking, new techniques, and emerging trends into Rumpl's creative output
  • Explore new approaches in typography, motion, color, and digital storytelling
  • Support competitive audits and mood board development for seasonal inspiration

What You'll Bring

Competencies

  • Design Craft & Execution: expert eye for typography, color, composition, and layout, backed by a track record of shipped work
  • Operational Excellence: combines creative problem-solving with meticulous organization and proactive task management, with minimal need for oversight
  • Digital Fluency: designs for responsive environments and multi-platform storytelling
  • Collaboration & Communication: works cross-functionally with clarity, accountability, and a solutions-oriented mindset, comfortable fielding ambiguous requests directly
  • Brand Stewardship: upholds and strengthens Rumpl's brand identity through every execution, and can flag when something is off-brand
  • Creative Curiosity: brings fresh ideas, inspiration, and innovation to the work
  • Attention to Detail: maintains a high standard of quality and precision in all deliverables

Skills & General Experience

  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign) required
  • Proficiency in Figma and responsive design required
  • Strong command of typography, layout, composition, and digital best practices
  • Proven experience preparing final files and running creative production workflows independently
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver high-quality design on time and on brief with minimal direction
  • Proven success owning projects cross-functionally and translating ambiguous or incomplete briefs into strong creative
  • Motion or video design skills (After Effects, Premiere Pro) a plus
  • Experience with PDP Photoshop templates a plus
  • Familiarity with email marketing and dark mode / light mode design a plus

Education and/or Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Graphic Design, Visual Communication, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
  • 4 to 6 years of professional design experience, with meaningful ownership of projects at a consumer brand or agency
  • Portfolio showing strong creative problem-solving, range, and storytelling across digital platforms
  • Passion for outdoor lifestyle, sustainability, and design innovation

Work Setup

This is a hybrid position based in Portland, OR, with in-office days Tuesday through Thursday and remote work on Mondays and Fridays. This role is primarily performed in a climate-controlled office/studio environment, with occasional on-site support for photo and video shoots or creative production (roughly 5% travel).

Why You? Why Rumpl?

This isn't just another design role, it's a chance to shape the look and feel of a brand redefining comfort and creativity in the outdoor space. At Rumpl, design is storytelling. Every web banner, campaign, and social post you touch is an opportunity to inspire connection and adventure.

You'll join a small but mighty creative team that values experimentation, craftsmanship, and collaboration, with real ownership over your corner of the brand's visual output while staying rooted in the Rumpl ethos: bold, outdoorsy, inclusive, and fun.

If you love blending lifestyle with design, crave variety in your work, and want to see your ideas live everywhere from social feeds to summits, this is the place for you.

Why You'll Love Working Here

  • Paid Time Off
  • Paid Holidays
  • Product and outdoor industry discounts
  • Monthly health insurance allowance (medical, dental, vision)
  • 401(k) with company match
  • Hybrid flexibility
