Job description

Description:

Position Overview

Good Clean Dog is a fast-growing startup on a mission to disrupt the dog-grooming industry by creating a better experience for dogs, the people who love them, and the professionals who care for them.

We’re looking for a Social Video Content Specialist to create compelling, high-performing content that brings the Good Clean Dog brand to life. This person will develop concepts, write scripts, execute content shoots, capture and edit short-form video, and use performance data to continually improve future content.

This is not a traditional videographer role. Expensive equipment and cinematic production experience are not the priority. We’re looking for someone who understands what earns attention on social media, and can turn customer insights, cultural trends, and everyday moments inside our shops into content people want to watch, save, share, and act on.

Through that content, this person will help build the world of Good Clean Dog: introducing audiences to our people, dogs, experiences, point of view, personality, and recurring stories in a way that makes the brand feel distinctive, familiar, and worth following.

What You’ll Do
  • Develop social-first concepts based on everyday operations in our shops, audience insights, pet parent pain points, brand priorities, and platform trends.
  • Write concise scripts with strong hooks, engaging storylines, and a clear vision for what we want the comment section of each post to look like.
  • Plan and execute content shoots featuring dogs, pet parents, team members, creators, and the Good Clean Dog experience.
  • Capture and edit short-form video.
  • Direct people who may not have on-camera experience so content feels natural and relatable.
  • Build the Good Clean Dog world through recurring stories, personalities, settings, humor, visual cues, and content formats.
  • Create and test variations of hooks, messages, formats, lengths, and calls to action.
  • Review retention, watch time, shares, saves, engagement, and conversion signals to understand what is working.
  • Apply performance insights to improve future content and develop repeatable formats.
  • Collaborate with internal team members and agency partners to maintain a consistent content pipeline.
What Success Looks Like
  • A consistent pipeline of relevant, recognizable, on-brand content.
  • Measurable improvement in retention, engagement, sharing, and conversion.
  • Repeatable formats that consistently connect with our target audiences.
  • A richer, more recognizable Good Clean Dog world built across our social content.
  • Content that helps more pet parents discover, understand, follow, and choose Good Clean Dog.
Requirements:

 What We’re Looking For

  • 3+ years of experience creating social-first content for a brand, agency, media company, or independently developed platform.
  • A strong portfolio of short-form video demonstrating concept development, scripting, shooting, and editing.
  • A deep understanding of Instagram Reels, TikTok, and what earns and maintains attention on social media.
  • Strong instincts for hooks, pacing, storytelling, audience psychology, and platform trends.
  • The ability to independently take content from initial insight and concept through shoot, edit, and performance analysis.
  • Experience directing employees, customers, creators, or other nonprofessional talent on camera.
  • Working knowledge of retention, watch time, completion rate, shares, saves, engagement, and conversion metrics.
  • Experience using performance data to test creative variables and improve future content.
  • A strong sense of brand and the ability to create content that feels consistent, recognizable, and uniquely Good Clean Dog.
  • A proactive, collaborative, and organized working style.
  • Comfort working on location and around dogs of different breeds, sizes, and personalities.
  • Ability to travel between Good Clean Dog locations throughout the St. Louis area for content shoots and collaboration.
  • Availability for occasional content shoots outside standard business hours, when needed.
  • Genuine enthusiasm for Good Clean Dog’s mission, a passion for dogs (or at least like them A LOT), and the opportunity to help build a growing brand.

We care more about your ideas, social instincts, and ability to create effective content than your degree, equipment, or experience with high-end production software.

We recognize that great social content creators build their skills in many different ways. Professional brand experience is valuable, but a compelling portfolio of personal, freelance, or independently created work will also be considered.

Compensation & Work Structure
  • Employment type: Full-time
  • Salary: $60,000–$80,000 annually, based on experience and demonstrated ability.  Initially structured as base plus merit-based annual bonus (KPIs to be defined within the first 120 days of employment start date).
  • Benefits: Health insurance, flexible PTO policy
  • Reports to: This position reports to Good Clean Dog’s Director of Marketing
  • Work structure: Hybrid remote and in-office in St. Louis, with regular in-person work at Good Clean Dog's headquarters in Brentwood, Missouri

Please include a resume and a portfolio showcasing relevant work with your application for consideration.
