Job Summary/Description:

The Digital News Content Creator is a motivated content creator for a social media audience at a TV news station. It requires knowledge of nonlinear video editing and graphic design specifically for use on social media platforms (e.g., TikTok, YouTube, Facebook, Instagram). Must be capable of editing news stories in various forms for various digital platforms. May have to occasionally work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays.

Duties/Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

- Plan and edit video as assigned for KPTV's various digital platforms.
- Create custom social media graphics for KPTV's various digital platforms.
- Cut video from TV newscasts for use in articles on KPTV.com & YouTube.
- Monitor KPTV programming for compelling video that can be featured on our digital platforms.
- Communicate and collaborate as part of a team in the newsroom.
- Post content to social media.
- Keep the digital department's video and photo database organized & updated.

Qualifications/Requirements:

- Minimum 2 years of prior experience, preferably in a TV newsroom or for a digital publication.
- Ability to work under deadline pressures with reporters and producers.
- Strong evidence of creating engaging, informative content for social media, including TikTok & YouTube.
- Willingness and ability to occasionally work nights, weekends, and some holidays.
- Experience with voiceovers, audio editing, or podcasts.
- Ability to create and manage short, medium, and long-term content plans.
- Experience and familiarity with design creation tools, ideally Adobe Illustrator and Adobe InDesign.
- Experience and familiarity with video creation and editing tools, ideally Adobe After Effects, Premiere Pro, and Photoshop.
- A portfolio of relevant work products to submit.
- Proven creative mind with a great eye for detail.
- College degree preferred, but not required.
