Job Description SummaryThe Videographer and Editor will play a key role in creating visual stories that support the University of Maryland's strategic mission and advance institutional objectives. The Office of Marketing and Communications produces a wide range of branded content, commercials, mini-docs, promotional and fundraising videos, social media content, and live events. The Videographer and Editor is a creative and technical role that requires audio-video storytelling, motion graphics expertise and field production skills. They must have an excellent creative eye, the ability to tell engaging stories, and an understanding of modern editing techniques, styles and trends.
We are looking for a self-starter who can bring enthusiasm and new ideas for content creation. Although most work will happen during business hours, this position may need to help with last minute updates to make publication deadlines or to cover after-hours events like Commencement.
Responsibilities include:
Video Editing
Apply various methods of post-production creative editing to complete long and short form video projects. Complete understanding of the video production process to include a familiarity of conceptualizing, scripting, filming and editing. Video editing using Adobe Premiere Pro. Color correct video footage using Premiere or other color grading software. Design motion graphics and other effects using After Effects and Photoshop. Assist with captions, thumbnail development and other aspects to increase impact. Manage storage and archiving of footage and projects, including detailed metadata. Supervise and provide maintenance of video editing hardware and software.
Videography
Produce video content for numerous platforms including the web, social media, and television by collecting clean audio (both interviews and natural sound), compelling high-quality video and memorable moments. Complete tasks as needed and assigned in all areas of field production to include: idea development, site surveys, location scouting, equipment transportation, set up audio, lighting, and cameras. Conduct interviews in the field. Cover events and capture general campus B-roll. Ability to work solo and on a team in the field.
Project Management/Office Duties
Assist in all aspects of video production including supporting file management. Perform general office support including updates to the project management system and making inventory orders. Coordinate with campus partners and outside vendors.Minimum Qualifications

Education: Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.

Experience: Three (3) years of experience in related field.

Other: Additional work experience as defined above may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for up to four (4) years of the required education.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES:

Knowledge of organizational principles and time management practices.
Skill in project management, including planning, coordinating, tracking progress, and ensuring successful completion of initiatives within established timelines.

Skill in verbal and written communication to clearly convey information, prepare correspondence, and interact effectively with diverse stakeholders.
Ability to analyze complex information, identify issues, and evaluate options.
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Ability to maintain a high level of attention to detail.
