The Opportunity
The Quality Manager is responsible for supporting implementations of quality management systems changes and documentation. Analyze data related to quality processes and improvements. Focuses on problem solving with the capacity to think creatively under pressure.
How you will impact Smurfit Westrock:
  • Partner with branches, including staff at all levels, to communicate quality system goals, objectives, and procedures.
  • Conduct quality system audits on a regular basis; recommend quality system improvements that enhance strategic goals of business.
  • Conduct research, collect data, and perform analysis on processes using various statistical methods resulting in continual improvement.
  • Serve as a resource for branch managers regarding appropriate use of quality management system.
  • Facilitate responses and resolve customer complaints in the form of corrective actions between customers and branches.
  • Stay current on quality standards (including but not limited to ISO 9001:2015, GFSI, TS16949, AS9100, ISO 13485, RBA) and communicate appropriate changes to branch teams.
  • Facilitate best practices between individual branches including developing and implementing improvements.
  • Assist in developing and maintaining centralized quality management system for Victory Packaging.
  • Collaborate on various cross-departmental projects and lead as needed.
  • Participate in branch management review meetings.
  • Establish positive and professional rapport with all co-workers and managers at all levels.
  • Model behavior and decision making that is consistent with Victory Packaging culture, goals and policies.

What you need to succeed:
  • Bachelor's Degree in relevant subject required or equivalent work experience.
  • Minimum of three (3) years prior experience with principles and practices of quality management systems and standards. (Six Sigma, ISO 9001:2008, TS16949, AS9100 GSFI knowledge a plus).
  • Minimum of one (1) year prior experience managing quality systems for multiple sites preferred.
  • Problem solving ability (to include analytical, prioritization, and escalation skills).
  • Exceptional communication skills (written and oral). Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus.
  • Ability to work independently and remain self-motivated with minimal direct supervision.
  • Ability to work both in person and remotely with internal and external (customers & suppliers) across North America.
  • High sense of urgency and attention to detail.
  • Exceptional customer service skills.
  • Adaptability and flexibility in a fast changing environment.
  • Advanced computer skills to support data analysis including MS Office and statistical software.
  • High level of compatibility in various team environments.
  • Up to 80% travel during standard work week
