VP Operations

Job Purpose

Principal Accountabilities 1. Operational Leadership & Strategic Management
  • Factory Oversight: Manage all personnel-related activities across the plant, leading a team of functional managers to achieve weekly performance, production, and revenue targets.

  • Financial & Budgetary Control: Plan and administer department budgets; make critical recommendations on tooling, direct/indirect labor, and capital expenditures while reviewing cost and operations data to ensure plant profitability.

  • Corporate Policy & Growth: Participate in formulating company policies and developing long-range strategic goals that align asset performance with business growth.

2. Manufacturing & Process Engineering Oversight
  • Technical Direction: Provide engineering leadership and oversight to manufacturing, process, industrial, automation, and quality engineers.

  • Process Optimization: Direct process engineering initiatives involving design, optimization, validation, qualification, and continuous improvement of manufacturing systems.

  • Standards & Approvals: Review and approve engineering standards, process specifications, validation protocols, manufacturing procedures, and technical operating requirements using advanced engineering judgment.

4. Quality Engineering & Continuous Improvement
  • Quality Systems: Lead quality engineering initiatives, including statistical process control (SPC) systems, root cause analysis, corrective action implementation, reliability engineering, and process capability analysis.

  • Technology Evaluation: Continuously evaluate manufacturing technologies and engineering solutions to improve productivity, quality, yield performance, and operational reliability.

5. New Product Introduction (NPI) & Business Development
  • NPI Leadership: Provide engineering leadership for NPI programs to ensure manufacturability, process capability, quality performance, and operational readiness.

  • Bid & Proposal Management: Coordinate with operations, engineering, and program management to ensure proposals for potential contracts are accurate, matching company capabilities with customer requirements to win new business.

  • Contract Execution: Direction and execution of the product/service contract management process, resulting in accurate forecasts, competitive pricing, successful negotiations, and scope recovery.

6. Customer & Supplier Relationship Management
  • Stakeholder Collaboration: Collaborate with design engineering teams, customers, suppliers, and technical personnel regarding product manufacturability, engineering requirements, and technology implementation.

  • Business Growth: Establish and maintain strong customer relationships through stellar performance, securing profitable recurring business and identifying opportunities for expansion.

Job Qualifications Education
  • Required: Bachelor’s Degree (BA/BS) in Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Mechanical/Electrical Engineering, or Business Administration with a heavy technical focus.

Experience & Skills
  • Management History: 10 to 15 years of progressive managerial experience in manufacturing, preferably with a background as an Operations Manager, Manufacturing Engineering Manager, or a related technical leadership role.

  • Industry Background: Experience in the Electronic Manufacturing Services (EMS) industry is highly preferred, with specific exposure to advanced electronic, optical, and telecommunications product manufacturing.

  • Technical & Systems Expertise: "Hands-on" manager with solid experience and knowledge of MRP/ERP systems, NPI protocols, and capacity planning.

  • Data-Driven Analytics: Proven ability to analyze manufacturing performance data utilizing engineering methodologies to identify opportunities for process optimization.

  • Leadership & Communication: Exceptional communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills; strong organizational and time management capabilities to resolve unexpected problems quickly and efficiently.
