Overview

Market VP, Operations (Eastern IA) – full-time position with Segra. Hybrid work arrangement requiring a minimum of three (3) days in the office and up to two (2) remote days per week.

Role Overview

The Market VP, Operations directs a geographically diverse operations team responsible for the planning, installation, operations, and maintenance of the company’s metro/regional telecommunications network. Responsibilities include directing company and contractor resources to ensure timely completion of all new Outside Plant (OSP) and Inside Plant (ISP) facilities. The role collaborates with Sales and Sales Engineering market leaders to develop and implement business plan goals, objectives, and strategies to achieve market success in line with the company’s overall goals and objectives. The position directs multi-million-dollar capital and operating expense budgets to ensure compliance with policies and business objectives. It oversees the overall design, installation, and implementation process; equipment training requirements; operational policies and procedures; escalation for the department, customers, and internal teams; equipment sparing and logistical support; vendor and contractor management; project tracking and workflow management; participation in internal and external project reviews; and support for internal departments.

Directs and guides the professional development of Manager(s) and Market Engineer(s) and indirectly guides their teams’ development. Develops processes, procedures, and training needs to drive engineering, construction, and installation department efficiencies, and shares best practices with peers. Must be well versed in engineering, construction, splicing, and installation techniques; have working knowledge of GIS mapping; and be able to interpret construction and as-built drawings.

Qualifications
  • Experience: Minimum of 12 years of Telecommunications industry-related experience, with at least 7 years in a managerial role.
  • High level of experience with DWDM, SONET, Ethernet, TDM, IP, Voice/SIP/VoIP, LAN, and hosted services equipment and technology.
  • Strong supervisory and leadership skills, with excellent verbal and written communication.
  • Extensive knowledge of principles, procedures, and best practices in the telecommunications industry including construction, installation, AC/DC power, OSP/ISP infrastructure, cabling, and Metro/Regional fiber optic network topologies.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, GIS, and telecommunications industry-related software.
Education
  • College or Technical degree in Business, Engineering, IT, or telecommunications-related field.
