Job description

Summary:

The VP & CNO assumes oversight responsibility for the fiscal, clinical, administrative management and regulatory compliance for patient care services for their sites(s). The VP & CNO ensures the safe, effective, high-quality patient-centered nursing care throughout the health care organization. The VP & CNO is strategically positioned at the senior leadership level. The VP & CNO collaborates with, and influences, the organization's governing body, medical leadership and other organizational leaders across departments (i.e. Finance, Ancillary, etc.). The VP & CNO develops and implements a strategic plan for patient care services and is responsible to develop and maintain a healthy work environment predicated on employee engagement, patient safety, exemplary outcomes and financial prudency.

Responsibilities:

Communication and Relationship Management*

  • As an executive leader the VP & CNO creates a shared vision for building relationships centered on trust and respect while embracing diversity and inspiring innovation.
  • The VP & CNO communicates the shared vision clearly and influences behaviors of internal and external customers to effectuate the organizational goals and the enterprise-wide strategic plan.

  • The VP & CNO establishes themselves as an integral member of the senior executive leadership team. Using influential leadership, the VP & CNO has the ability to inspire individual and organizational excellence, create and attain a shared vision and successfully manage change to implement the organizations' strategic plan and successfully achieve top level outcomes.
  • The VP & CNO creates a culture that promotes team fulfillment, employee engagement, professional goal aspirations and succession planning.

  • As a key stakeholder, the VP & CNO works with senior executive leadership to create the organizational strategic plan and assures alignment with patient care services and the health system.
  • Maintains a comprehensive understanding of the global environment and health care system to ensure the quality of the delivery of nursing care is consistent and appropriate throughout the organization.
  • Advocates for resources to ensure that a safe and caring environment is maintained.
  • Understands and builds relationships with-in the surrounding communities to positively influence population health.
  • As a leader in the nursing profession, the VP & CNO engages in and impacts the nursing profession, advocating for policies that promote the profession and organization at a local, regional and national level.

Business Skills and Knowledge*

  • Develops business strategy in collaboration with all leadership on established metrics and action plans for patient care services to achieve organizational goals.
  • Drives achievement of organizational goals by expertly executing financial management skills, quality improvement methodologies and employee engagement strategies.

Fulfills all compliance responsibilities related to the position.

Education Skills Experience:

1.Education:

Bachelors or Graduate degree in nursing required.

Master's Degree required.

Doctoral Degree, preferred.

2.Licensure & Certification:

Current license as a Registered Professional Nurse

Board Certification at the Executive Level within 2 years

3.Experience:

10-year clinical nursing experience, at minimum.

Demonstrated progressive management experience in healthcare.

      Other Information:

      1.Education:

      Bachelors or Graduate degree in nursing required.

      Masters Degree required.

      Doctoral Degree, preferred.

      2.Licensure & Certification:

      Current license as a Registered Professional Nurse

      Board Certification at the Executive Level within 2 years

      3.Experience:

      10-year clinical nursing experience, at minimum.

      Demonstrated progressive management experience in healthcare.
