Senior Vice President (SVP) - ASC Operations

The Senior Vice President (SVP) - ASC Operations is a key member of the senior leadership team and is responsible for overseeing an assigned portfolio of ASC operations which may cover multiple geographic regions and multiple health system partnerships. The role is responsible for setting portfolio and ASC strategy, achieving performance excellence in operations, clinical services, and experience. The SVP will be responsible for managing health system relationships across a multi-market portfolio of Ambulatory Surgery Centers (ASCs) including lead JV Boards and decisions for the portfolios. This senior executive leads the development and execution of integrated growth strategies, operational and clinical excellence initiatives. The SVP is responsible for achieving the financial performance targets that support organizational goals, enhance patient access, and strengthen strategic partnerships with physicians and healthcare systems.

The SVP partners with senior stakeholders including ELT, Market Presidents, health system partners, physician leaders, Atlas support center leader and Board members to ensure ASC financial performance, operational excellence, clinical excellence, regulatory compliance, and service excellence. This role demands a transformational leader with demonstrated initiative, executive presence and skill to influence other executive leader and proven experience managing complex, multi-site healthcare operations in a highly matrixed and competitive environment.

LOCATION:

This role includes responsibility for a multistate territory and involves frequent travel.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Executive Leadership: Provides strategic and operational oversight for an assigned portfolio of ASC operations which may span multiple geographic regions and include multiple health system partners while ensuring organizational alignment with mission, vision, and long-term performance goals.
  • Enterprise Strategy & Growth: Develops and executes comprehensive strategies for regional expansion, including center development, service line diversification, and new market entry. Leads business planning and operational readiness for new ventures and acquisitions.
  • JV Health System Partnership Management: Accountable for Healthsystem partnership management. Leads JV Board meeting and presentation production. Is responsible for managing portfolio strategy, achieving performance expectations, and aligning health system on achieving performance objectives.
  • Performance Optimization: Drives continuous improvement through data analytics, benchmarking, and evidence-based decision-making to enhance clinical quality, operational efficiency, customer experience and financial performance.
  • Governance & Compliance: Ensures compliance with all applicable legal, regulatory, and accreditation requirements. Implements governance structures to promote consistent execution, accountability, and policy adherence across all centers. Leads health system JV Governance efforts in partnership with ELT.
  • Growth & Profitability: Is accountable for setting and achieve growth targets in partnership with Business Development focusing on Physician Satisfaction, Physician Recruitment and facilitating Atlas operating model through Partnership Management Reviews (PMR) process. Leads Quarterly Business Reviews presenting coherent and achievable strategies to promote portfolio success.
  • Physician & Partner Engagement: Builds and maintains high-impact relationships with physicians, joint venture partners, and health system executives. Promotes clinical alignment, physician satisfaction, and partnership governance across the ASC network.
  • Syndication Management: Actively and effectively manages the investment portfolio to promote highest and best returns for partners. Works closely with Business Development, Legal, and Finance to promote effective equity transitions and promote growth of ASC in compliance with Atlas policy.
  • Operational Integration: Coordinates with cross-functional departments (finance, IT, HR, clinical operations, revenue cycle, marketing) to ensure streamlined integration of systems and services across new and existing sites.
  • Financial Stewardship: Oversees operating budgets, investment financing and capital investments, and revenue cycle operations in partnership with FP&A. Leads strategic cost-containment and margin optimization efforts.
  • M&A and Expansion: Partners with Development to co-lead due diligence, negotiation, and integration of acquired centers. Ensures cultural fit, compliance, and operational continuity through change management and transition planning.
  • Innovation & Change Leadership: Champions innovative care models, digital strategies, and cultural transformation initiatives. Builds organizational agility to meet market dynamics and patient needs.
  • Market Execution: Partners with Regional and ASC leadership to ensure optimal patient throughput, space utilization, workforce efficiency, and productivity. Reviews data trends and adjusts strategies to maximize ASC performance.
  • Marketing & Development: Leads the development of growth-focused marketing, branding, and outreach initiatives. Collaborates with business development to identify new market opportunities.
  • Stakeholder Collaboration: Serves as a key liaison with executive stakeholders, including regulatory bodies, JV Boards, and community partners. Operates with a high degree of autonomy in executive-level decisions.

Performs all functions according to established policies, procedures, regulatory and accreditation requirements, as well as applicable professional standards. Provides all customers with an excellent service experience by consistently demonstrating our core and leader behaviors each and every day.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor's Degree in relevant field or equivalent education and experience. 10+ years of progressive healthcare leadership experience, with multi-site ASC operations. Demonstrated experience in ASC growth strategy, operational leadership, and large-scale transformation. Strong understanding of fiscal management, regulatory frameworks, business contracts and physician partnerships.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Master's Degree in Healthcare Administration, Business, or related field. Experience in joint venture ASC environment. Background in multi-state ASC governance and payer contract negotiations. Additional relevant education or experience preferred.
