Centra Credit Union has an exciting opportunity for a Vice President (VP) of Risk and Compliance Solutions in Columbus, Indiana. The VP Risk Compliance Solutions is responsible for ensuring that the Credit Union maintains a culture of risk awareness and compliance through effective management of a functional risk management framework and oversight of the Compliance Management System.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: This position may be required to perform additional duties as requested. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform.

  • Evaluates the maturity of Centra’s Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) Program and guides improvements to increase maturity. Facilitates the identification, analysis, and monitoring of risks across all risk categories.
  • Performs testing, tracks, and monitors issues, and prepares reports for management and the Enterprise Risk Committee (ERC) of the Board of Directors.
  • Oversees coordination and completion of program and process risk assessments and recommends control improvements with accuracy and diplomacy.
  • Coordinates quality assurance reviews, including scope and frequency of reviews. Identifies gaps or quality assurance issues and recommends improvements to processes or internal controls. Facilitates discussions on risk management.
  • Collaborates as a strategic partner to Senior Management in determining and recommending risk appetite. Maintains and revises Risk Appetite Statement and presents recommendations to ERC.
  • Consults with Senior Management and Lines of Business regarding all aspects of Risk and Compliance Management including, but not limited to, new products and services, new regulatory requirements, policies, guidelines, and procedures. Manages policy development and maintenance for Board level policies.
  • Leads Risk Management and Compliance Teams. Ensures processes within the departments maximize efficiency while strengthening effectiveness. Leadership duties include performance management, training, and development, and demonstrating and cultivating Centra’s Vision, Mission, Culture, and Core Values.
  • Oversees and provides guidance for the Compliance Management System, BSA Program, Vendor Management Program, Model Risk Management Program, Physical Security Program, and Corporate Insurance coverage.
  • Serves as management liaison for ERC and ensures timely, accurate sharing of information and board communications. Prepares and presents Risk Reports to Senior Management and the ERC. Chairs Management Risk Committee (MRC). Conducts MRC meetings, guides dashboard content, and facilitates risk and compliance discussions. Participates in various Credit Union committees, including serving as Back-Up Disaster Recovery Coordinator as part of the Business Continuity Plan.
  • Oversees exam process, including preparation and serving as primary liaison. Coordinates collection and submission of documentation, examiner discussions, and dissemination of final exam report. Assigns exam findings to appropriate lines of business for remediation. Collaborates with management to ensure all exam findings have appropriate action plans and reasonable timelines for completion.
  • Participates in Credit Union projects and initiatives to support strategic goals. Provides consultation and expertise to project leaders and evaluates projects for regulatory and risk implications.
  • Maintains necessary level of education to effectively manage areas of responsibility and retain certifications. Maintains knowledge of products, services, and procedures of the credit union to ensure good working knowledge to accurately access risk.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE – (Equivalent combination of Education & Experience will be considered.)

  • Bachelor's Degree in Related Field
  • Eight years to 10 years of similar or related experience, including preparatory experience
