SUMMARY: The Vice President of Planning is responsible for leading all aspects of network, schedule, and planning to ensure the airline operates an optimized, profitable, and customer-focused network. This role oversees schedule design, revenue management, marketing, and alliances while aligning with the company’s operational capabilities and long-term strategic goals. The VP of Planning serves as a key member of the leadership team, providing insight and recommendations on market opportunities, fleet deployment, and revenue growth initiatives.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Airline Scheduling
    • Develop and execute the airline’s network strategy, including market selection, route performance analysis, and schedule optimization.
    • Oversee creation of seasonal and long-term schedules that balance revenue maximization, operational reliability, and regulatory requirements.
    • Dynamic close-in intermediate scheduling changes to maximize revenue, shed costs
  • Revenue Management
    • Oversee Revenue Management to maximize yield and load factor performance across the network.
    • Develop annual revenue budget and manage revenue planning & forecasting (short-term and long-term), including scenario analysis with sensitivity to external factors.
    • Monitor industry, competitor, and economic trends to identify risks and opportunities impacting financial performance.
    • Maximize revenue on given airline capacity
  • Marketing
    • Promote Cape Air with a focus on generating revenue and ad ROI
    • Steward the Cape Air brand
    • Develop and maintain community relations
    • Lead Emergency Response public relations duties
  • Business development
    • Essential Air Service (EAS): Research, propose, win, and retain government sponsored EAS contracts
    • Manage contract charter; freight; US Mail, and other ancillary opportunities
    • Oversee Proposal Management for air service development contracts, such as minimum revenue guarantees
    • Manage other commercial contractual opportunities
    • Prospect and evaluate new routes and business lines for Cape Air
    • Introduce Cape Air to new communities; represent the airline in ongoing community relationships
    • Develop business plans of potential new routes
    • Oversee alliances and industry partnerships
  • Meet or exceed key performance indicator metrics
  • Support colleagues with data and business guidance
  • Provide analysis and recommendations on fleet strategy, including aircraft acquisitions, retirements, and sub-fleet allocation and changes.
  • Communicate commercial strategy to internal constituencies
  • Provide analytical support to other senior leaders as needed
  • Other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS:
        • 7–10+ years of airline industry experience, with significant background in planning, network scheduling, and/or revenue management.
        • Proven success leading teams and delivering results in a complex, fast-changing environment.
        • Strong analytical and financial skills, with ability to interpret market, economic, and operational data.
        • Experience working with EAS or government contracts (preferred for regional carriers).
        • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Aviation Management, or related field.
        • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to foster and maintain strong business relationships
        • Ability to lead and inspire a team, fostering a collaborative and results-driven environment
