Job Title: Senior Vice President of Preconstruction
Job Description:
As the Senior Vice President of Preconstruction in the construction industry, you will be a strategic leader responsible for overseeing all preconstruction activities to drive project success and client satisfaction. You will play a critical role in developing and implementing preconstruction strategies, estimating methodologies, and value engineering solutions to support business growth, project profitability, and operational excellence.
Your primary responsibilities will include:
Preconstruction Leadership: Provide strategic direction and oversight for all preconstruction activities, including conceptual estimating, budgeting, bidding, value engineering, and preconstruction planning. Lead the development and execution of preconstruction strategies, processes, and procedures to deliver accurate, timely, and competitive proposals that meet client needs and project objectives.
Estimating and Budgeting: Direct the estimating team in preparing comprehensive project estimates, budgets, and proposals based on thorough analysis of project scope, specifications, drawings, and market conditions. Review and analyze bid documents, subcontractor quotes, and material costs to identify cost-saving opportunities, mitigate risks, and maximize project profitability.
Value Engineering: Collaborate with clients, design teams, and project stakeholders to identify value engineering opportunities and alternative solutions that optimize project value, quality, and performance while minimizing costs and schedule impacts. Lead value engineering workshops, cost-saving analyses, and risk assessments to enhance project outcomes and client satisfaction.
Client Relationship Management: Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, architects, engineers, subcontractors, and vendors to understand their needs, preferences, and expectations. Act as a trusted advisor and strategic partner to clients, providing proactive guidance, innovative solutions, and value-added services throughout the preconstruction process.
Team Leadership and Development: Recruit, develop, and mentor a high-performing preconstruction team, including estimators, preconstruction managers, and support staff. Foster a culture of collaboration, excellence, and continuous improvement to empower team members, drive performance, and achieve departmental goals and objectives.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in construction management, engineering, architecture, or related field; Master's degree or professional certifications preferred.
Minimum of 15 years of progressive experience in preconstruction management, estimating, and business development within the construction industry, with a proven track record of success in leading preconstruction efforts for large-scale commercial, institutional, and industrial projects.
Deep knowledge of preconstruction best practices, estimating methodologies, value engineering principles, and construction technologies, with expertise in reading and interpreting construction documents, specifications, and drawings.
Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to inspire trust, build relationships, and collaborate effectively with clients, partners, and cross-functional teams.
