About The Role: The VP, Commercial Banker is responsible for managing and growing a portfolio of business clients by delivering tailored financial solutions that support their operational and strategic goals. They focus on both deepening existing relationships and acquiring new clients, with an emphasis on proactive outreach, consultative selling, and cross-functional collaboration. The VP, Commercial Banker serves as a trusted advisor and primary point of contact for clients, leveraging the bank's full suite of commercial products and services. What You'll Be Doing:

  • Develop and manage a portfolio of commercial clients, focusing on businesses with complex financial needs.
  • Identify and pursue new business opportunities through networking, referrals, and market research.
  • Conduct in-depth financial reviews to understand client goals and recommend appropriate banking solutions.
  • Structure and present credit requests in collaboration with credit partners, ensuring alignment with policy and risk appetite.
  • Maintain regular contact with clients to monitor satisfaction, identify new needs, and ensure retention.
  • Collaborate with internal partners (e.g., treasury, wealth, mortgage, credit) to deliver comprehensive financial solutions.
  • Utilize CRM tools to manage pipeline activity, track client interactions, and ensure timely follow-up.
  • Stay informed on industry trends, regulatory changes, and competitive offerings to provide relevant insights to clients.
  • Participate in community and industry events to enhance visibility and build referral networks.
  • Contribute to team knowledge-sharing and support a culture of continuous improvement and client focus.

What You Should Have:

  • Bachelor's degree in business, finance or related field, or equivalent work experience required.
  • 5-10 years of financial services experience, preferably in commercial banking.
  • Professional certifications (e.g., CFP, CFA, CPA, CWS, MBA, ABA Commercial Lending School) preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to assess client needs and deliver tailored financial solutions.
  • Strong CRM proficiency and experience managing a sales pipeline.
  • Proven track record in business development and client relationship management.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and negotiation skills.
  • High level of financial acumen and analytical ability.
