Job description

The Senior Vice President, Retail Development & Leasing will be a senior, hands-on real estate professional responsible for leading Walton's retail development and leasing activities, with particular emphasis on the entitlement, development and leasing of land for future retail and commercial uses.

This individual will bring significant experience successfully taking retail development opportunities from early-stage market and site evaluation through entitlement, site planning, development, construction, tenant negotiations and lease-up. The ideal candidate should have 15-20 years of relevant industry experience and a strong working knowledge of the relationships, processes and judgment required to move complex retail projects forward—including working with municipalities, brokers, retailers, developers, consultants and other development partners.

Beyond executing projects, this role will help build Walton's internal retail development capabilities. The Senior Vice President will establish practical, repeatable processes; develop and leverage industry relationships; share market knowledge and lessons learned; and serve as a mentor to younger team members who are developing their careers in retail real estate.

The successful candidate will combine strategic perspective with a willingness to work directly on projects and transactions. This is an opportunity for an experienced retail real estate professional to apply a career’s worth of knowledge while helping Walton's build a scalable retail development and leasing platform for the future.

The position is based in Scottsdale, Arizona and requires regular travel to markets and project sites. The role is expected to spend at least six business days per month traveling and one full week per month working from Walton's Scottsdale home office.
