Job description

Oversees the development, integration and administration of Baptist Health's Laboratory Services policies, services, and programs linking lab network across the enterprise. Provides strategic oversight for the service line as well as the typical day-to-day running of the function. Ensures high-quality and cost-effective services within regulatory, quality, and professional standards to fulfill Baptist Health's strategic goals, mission, and values. This position is responsible for the full laboratory span of control, with all lab teams reporting through this leadership structure. 

Job Responsibilities:

  1. Develops and executes the system-wide vision, strategic plan, and long-range goals for Laboratory Services, ensuring alignment with Baptist Health's mission, organizational priorities, clinical excellence, growth objectives, and operational performance.
  2. Provides executive oversight for laboratory operations across the enterprise, establishing governance, operational standards, policies, and decision-making frameworks that promote consistency, accountability, and alignment across the system.
  3. Drives enterprise-wide operational excellence through the standardization of workflows, performance metrics, productivity expectations, best practices, and continuous improvement initiatives that improve efficiency, service, patient outcomes.

  4. Partners with Human Resources and operational leaders to develop workforce strategies that address recruitment, retention, engagement, succession planning, leadership development, and workforce capacity needs across the laboratory service line.

  5. Leads enterprise-wide laboratory transformation initiatives, service expansions, innovation, technology adoption, process redesign, and organizational change efforts to improve scalability, support future growth, and position Laboratory Services for long-term success.

  6. Ensures compliance with all applicable federal, state, accreditation, and regulatory standards requirements while promoting a culture of safety, reliability, quality, and continuous survey readiness.

  7. Leads, develops, and holds accountable leaders in Laboratory Services, fostering leadership effectiveness, succession planning, talent development, and execution of enterprise laboratory priorities across all regions.

  8. Ensures laboratory services support high-quality patient care by aligning clinical operational standards with current research, professional standards, regulatory expectations, and Baptist Health's mission, vision, and values.

  9. Establishes, monitors, and evaluates key performance indicators for quality, service, workforce, financial performance, patient experience, and operational effectiveness, using data analytics to guide decisions, identify opportunities, manage risks, and improve performance.

  10. Serves as the executive liaison for Laboratory Services, building collaborative relationships with physicians, nursing, executive leadership, entity leadership, and corporate partners to advance organizational priorities and service line objectives.

Required Education: Master's Degree in Business Administration, Healthcare Administration or related field, required

Minimum of ten (10) years of progressively responsible administrative and leadership experience in medical laboratory operations in a hospital/healthcare setting is required. Proven track record in strategic planning, financial management, and operational effectiveness.
