We are CNN. THE WORLD'S MOST ESSENTIAL AND ENGAGING SOURCE OF DIGITAL NEWS. We are in the midst of rapid transformation and need our next generation of innovators, makers, and dreamers who will lead and drive our growth. We aim to make the world a better, more connected place.

Your New Role...

CNN is seeking a visionary Vice President, Product Design - Growth and Revenue to lead the design strategy and execution across our monetization ecosystem. Reporting directly to the GVP Produce Design and User Experience Research, this leadership role oversees the Growth and Revenue product design organization, encompassing Ads, Commerce, and Subscriptions. You will serve as the overarching monetization design leader, ensuring that our revenue-driving experiences are as compelling, seamless, and user-centric as our world-class journalism. This role requires a mission-driven, highly strategic leader who can drive significant business impact while preserving user trust. You will act as an equal partner to the VP of Product and the VP of Engineering for Growth and Revenue to define the roadmap, pioneer new models for digital acquisition and retention, and deliver best-in-class product experiences across CNN's digital properties; web, native mobile applications, and TV apps.

Your Role Accountabilities...

Design Vision & Monetization Strategy

  • Set and execute an ambitious, forward-thinking product design vision for CNN's Growth and Revenue platforms, including Subscriptions, Ads, and Commerce.
  • Act as the primary design leader for monetization, ensuring that business goals seamlessly intersect with best-in-class user experiences.
  • Guide the development of sophisticated design expressions and large-scale systems that communicate the value of CNN's offerings to convert audiences into loyal subscribers.

Leadership & Team Excellence

  • Oversee, mentor, and scale a high-performing, multi-layered team of product design directors, managers, and designers dedicated to Growth and Revenue.
  • Foster a collaborative, inclusive, and innovative design culture that empowers teams to take smart risks, champion new ideas, and achieve the highest caliber of craft.
  • Recruit, develop, and retain top-tier design talent to build a world-class monetization design organization.

Product, Engineering & Cross-Functional Partnerships

  • Partner closely with the VP of Product and VP of Engineering for Growth and Revenue to synthesize strategic initiatives into highly effective, scalable product experiences.
  • Lead as an active partner in the triad (Design, Product, Engineering), aligning teams on business-critical priorities.
  • Build strong, matrixed relationships across Editorial, Marketing, Revenue, and Data teams to ensure revenue products are consistent with CNN's broader brand and editorial mission.

User Experience, Audience & Performance

  • Champion a data-driven design culture, utilizing A/B and multi-variant testing, user research, and analytics to continually refine metrics related to acquisition, retention, and conversion.
  • Oversee rapid prototyping and continuous iteration to solve complex design problems, validate product features, and prove out concepts for new business ventures.
  • Deeply understand the media landscape, subscription funnels, and e-commerce mechanics to minimize friction, reduce churn, and maximize user delight.

Qualifications & Experience...

  • 12-15+ years of experience in product design within Digital Media, Technology, or Ecommerce companies, with a strong emphasis on ads, growth, acquisition, and monetization.
  • 5+ years of senior leadership experience managing design teams, preferably at the Director or VP level.
  • Extensive portfolio demonstrating strategic UX and visual design solutions for subscription models, advertising ecosystems, and digital commerce.
  • Exceptional track record of executing a design vision that drives measurable business outcomes (conversion, retention, revenue) while maintaining user trust.
  • Deep understanding of product bundling, identity, verification, authentication, and authorization systems.
  • Strong data fluency; deep experience guiding teams in testing and refining UX based on metrics, user research, and audience insights.
  • Outstanding communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills, with the demonstrated ability to influence cross-functionally and align executive stakeholders.
  • Bachelor's degree or higher in design, human-computer interaction (HCI), or equivalent professional experience.

How We Get Things Done...

This last bit is probably the most important! Here at WBD, our guiding principles are the core values by which we operate and are central to how we get things done. You can find them at www.wbd.com/guiding-principles/ along with some insights from the team on what they mean and how they show up in their day to day.
