Job description

Job Summary
The Vice President of Pharmacy Operations provides executive leadership, strategic direction, and operational oversight for all pharmacy services across the Tower Health system including Acute Care (Inpatient) Pharmacy, Ambulatory and Outpatient Pharmacy Services, Specialty Pharmacy, Clinical Pharmacy Services, Pharmacy Supply Chain and 340B programs, Pharmacy Quality, and Medication Safety.
In this impactful role, the VP of Pharmacy Operations holds full accountability for the delivery, performance, and advancement of all pharmacy programs, services, and business lines. Serving as the system's principal pharmacy strategist, this leader drives the vision for evidence-based medication use, quality outcomes, and financial sustainability. This leader:
  • ensures that all pharmacy operations comply with federal and state regulations, accreditation standards, and professional practice guidelines.
  • oversees the design, implementation, and evaluation of clinical pharmacy programs.
  • oversees the procurement, preparation, distribution, and control of medications.
  • oversees the financial stewardship of drug budgets, inventories, and reimbursement strategies.
  • directs and aligns pharmacy business operations, residency programs, professional training initiatives, and workforce planning.
  • identifies market trends, risks, and growth opportunities.
  • standardizes pharmacy practices across the enterprise.
  • collaborates with internal and external partners to optimize drug utilization, strengthen 340B performance, and enhance patient care.

Qualifications
Education Requirements
  • Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD)

Certification and Licensure
  • Pennsylvania Pharmacist License or currently licensed in another US state with the requirement of obtaining PA pharmacist license within 120 days of hire

Experience and Skills
  • Inpatient and ambulatory pharmacy leadership experience required
  • Ability to execute strategies based on system priorities
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills with a proven ability to communicate, facilitate, and negotiate with key stakeholders, healthcare personnel, and external constituents with diplomacy and integrity
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills
  • Adaptable leader who influences smooth operations in dynamic environments
