VP, Business Development

Job Overview
Leadership role for a sales team responsible for key accounts in North America reporting to the SVP. Responsible for developing long-range strategic plans, coaching and developing team members, achieving sales targets with an emphasis on creating and sustaining business growth. Direct business development activities to achieve sales and new business goals from identification through contract award. Establish and maintain relationships with senior levels within customer organization, and within IQVIA.
Essential Functions

  • Manage staff in accordance with organization's policies and applicable legislation.

  • Responsibilities include sales development and coaching of team members, planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance and guiding professional development; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing employee relations issues and resolving problems.

  • Provide leadership and direction to business unit in its efforts to increase presence and market share in applicable markets.

  • Collaborate with internal departments in identifying/implementing business development opportunities to expand the services and continually improve the business performance of FSP and full-service clinical development phase I-IV services.

  • Provide direction and serve as a resource for sales team members, including; performance management, career progression, and professional development.

  • Aid sales team in the Identification and alignment of capabilities with current and potential customer requirements.

  • Lead/Participate in Governance Committee with customers.

  • Research and identify target markets, build relationships, perform and deliver in-depth presentations, strategic analysis, and execution of implemented plans.

  • Continuously develop and cultivate business relationships within senior levels of customer organizations.

  • Provide senior level representation for the Company's interaction with perspective customers, development teams, and external consultants.

  • Actively participates in proposal and strategy development, preparation meetings and bid defense meetings.

  • Represent respective Sales Team to Senior Management on key business updates related to sales activities.

  • Ensure that the sales team members are sufficiently trained to meet their job objectives.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree, Masters Preferred

  • 17+ years of progressively more responsible experience in CRO services or large pharmaceutical or life science companies including 10 years management experience Req Or

  • Equivalent combination of education, training and experience Req

  • Unquestionable personal and professional integrity

  • Solid understanding of commercialization and the principles of drug discovery and development

  • Strategic business and Industry awareness and the ability to translate emerging Industry trends relevant to the organization

  • Excellent Analytical skills and experience in evaluating and managing business plans

  • Proven experience conducting and negotiating deals

  • Excellent Attention to detail and ability to work simultaneously on multiple priorities

  • Adaptability and flexibility to changing priorities

  • Excellent presentation, communication, and negotiation skills

  • Proven previous management experience and success

  • Experience and ability to progressively coach and mentor individuals

  • Proven ability to empower and develop people and help them achieve goal

  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with coworkers, managers and clients

  • 40%+ travel is required (based on location)

The potential base pay range for this role, when annualized, is $155,800.00 - $434,200.00. The actual base pay offered may vary based on a number of factors including job-related qualifications such as knowledge, skills, education, and experience; location; and/or schedule (full or part-time). Dependent on the position offered, incentive plans, bonuses, and/or other forms of compensation may be offered, in addition to a range of health and welfare and/or other benefits.
