Primary Purpose of Organizational Unit
Established in 1985 by Frank Hawkins Kenan, the Kenan Institute of Private Enterprise is a nonpartisan business policy think tank affiliated with the UNC Kenan-Flagler Business School. The nonprofit institute and its affiliated centers convene leaders from the private sector, academic community and government to build a greater understanding of how entrepreneurship, economic development and global commerce can work for the public good. The institute leverages best-in-class research to develop market-based solutions to today's most complex economic challenges. In doing so, the institute aims to support businesses and policies that better the lives of people in North Carolina, across the country and around the world.
Position Summary
The KIPE Intern will support Kenan Asia (a U.S.-registered not for profit) and Kenan Foundation Asia (a Thailand-registered not for profit) in strengthening U.S.-based fundraising, donor engagement, and partnership efforts.
The intern will assist with website creation and management, establishing social media presence, designing digital campaigns, and digital content development and coordination activities that advance Kenan Foundation Asia's mission in STEM education and workforce development.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
Bachelor's degree in a discipline related to the area of assignment; or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.
Management Preferences
- Strong digital, social media, or graphic design skills
- Experience developing social media campaigns or marketing assets 
- Experience developing websites through platforms like Squarespace or others 
- Interest in nonprofits, fundraising, communications, or global development
- Ability to work independently in a professional, remote-friendly environment
