Vice President Global Sourcing: USA

Raleigh, North Carolina, United States (Hybrid, with international travel)

Role Overview

The Vice President, Uniphar | Global Sourcing: USA is a senior executive responsible for driving revenue growth across international export, domestic wholesaling, and 3PL / specialty distribution channels. The role will strengthen the company's global supplier base and develop direct sourcing relationships with pharmaceutical manufacturers for a US-based pharmaceutical wholesaler with a strong focus on export markets.

In addition to commercial and sourcing leadership, this role is a key culture carrier for the Group. The VP is expected to actively champion and embed the "One Uniphar" approach, fostering collaboration, alignment, and shared accountability across geographies, functions, and business units. This leader sets the tone for how teams work together while driving sustainable, compliant growth across all channels.

Key Responsibilities

Commercial Strategy & Leadership

  • Develop and execute the global commercial, business development, sourcing, and distribution strategy aligned with corporate objectives
  • Drive top-line revenue growth across export, domestic wholesale, and 3PL / specialty distribution channels
  • Improve gross margin through optimized sourcing, pricing, and service offerings
  • Drive competitive positioning through pricing strategy, service differentiation, and market intelligence

Business Development & Market Expansion

  • Identify and develop new international export markets, domestic wholesale customers, and strategic distribution opportunities
  • Expand 3PL and specialty distribution offerings, including manufacturer and specialty pharma partnerships
  • Represent the company and Group at industry events, conferences, and trade shows

Supplier Expansion & Strategic Sourcing

  • Lead expansion of the global supplier base with strong emphasis on direct manufacturer relationships
  • Identify, qualify, and onboard branded, generic, and specialty pharmaceutical manufacturers
  • Negotiate commercial supply agreements, pricing structures, exclusivity arrangements, and volume commitments
  • Build long-term strategic partnerships to improve supply security, cost efficiency, and competitive advantage
  • Partner with Quality, Regulatory, and Procurement teams to ensure compliance with GMP, GDP, FDA, DSCSA, and international standards

Domestic Wholesaling & 3PL / Specialty Distribution

  • Grow domestic US wholesale relationships with manufacturers, pharmacies, hospitals, and healthcare providers
  • Develop and scale 3PL and specialty distribution services, including cold chain, controlled substances, and high-touch specialty products
  • Partner with Operations and Logistics to ensure service-level excellence and regulatory compliance
  • Identify opportunities to cross-sell export, wholesale, and 3PL services under an integrated commercial model

Export & International Trade

  • Oversee export sales strategy ensuring full compliance with FDA, DEA, DSCSA, GDP, and international regulations
  • Monitor geopolitical, regulatory, and supply chain risks impacting sourcing and international distribution
  • Establish KPIs covering revenue growth, supplier expansion, margin improvement, service levels, and team engagement

People & Culture

  • Act as a visible culture carrier and role model for the "One Uniphar" approach
  • Foster a collaborative, inclusive, and high-performance culture across commercial, sourcing, and distribution teams
  • Lead ethically and embed values into hiring, onboarding, and performance management
  • Build, lead, and mentor high-performing commercial, sourcing, wholesale, and 3PL teams
  • Develop future leaders through coaching, feedback, and succession planning

Financial & Operational Collaboration

  • Partner with Finance on forecasting, margin improvement, and working capital optimization
  • Collaborate with Operations, Quality, Regulatory, Supply Chain, and IT teams to align strategy and execution
  • Support M&A, joint ventures, supplier acquisitions, or strategic alliances where relevant
Required Qualifications & Experience

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain, Life Sciences, or related field

Experience

  • 10+ years of senior commercial, business development, sourcing, or distribution experience within pharmaceutical wholesaling, specialty distribution, 3PL, or manufacturing
  • Proven success establishing direct manufacturer relationships
  • Experience across export, domestic wholesale, and/or specialty distribution models
  • Strong understanding of regulated pharmaceutical supply chains and services
  • Demonstrated track record of team leadership and culture development
