Vice President of Finance
APEL Extrusions is an independent extruder, finisher and fabricator of aluminum extrusions serving the commercial, residential, and industrial markets of Western United States and Western Canada. With facilities in Phoenix Arizona, Coburg Oregon and Calgary Canada, APEL Extrusions is a fully integrated extruder with six extrusion presses and a full array of finishing capabilities occupying over 600,000 square feet of modern manufacturing space employing approximately 325 people.

APEL Extrusions has an immediate requirement for a qualified Vice President of Finance, based at the Phoenix, Arizona facility.

Reporting to the President, the Vice President of Finance, will lead APEL’s financial operations and have direct responsibility for the development, oversight, and compliance of all financial reporting, full cycle accounting, and statutory requirements for the Company. As a key member of the APEL Leadership Team, the incumbent ensures Companywide compliance with GAAP, accounting principles, policies and practices and ensures Company reporting meets or exceeds all pertinent legislation and generally accepted accounting principles.
This executive leadership role requires a strong business partnership with other corporate executives, providing financial strategies and analysis that improves company performance and drives organizational decision-making. Given the pivotal nature of this position, this individual will fully participate in all major organizational initiatives in both Canada and the US.
Position Scope includes:
  • Act as the Company's senior financial strategist, partnering with executive leadership and the Board of Directors to shape corporate strategy, evaluate growth opportunities, and drive long-term enterprise value creation.
  • Partner with senior executives to evaluate strategic opportunities, including investments, capital allocation decisions, market expansion initiatives, and other business development activities.
  • Develop and present clear, insightful, and data-driven financial analyses, forecasts, and strategic recommendations to the Board of Directors, executive leadership team, and other key stakeholders.
  • Lead cross-functional initiatives to improve profitability, operational efficiency, cash flow generation, and return on investment.
  • Advise executive leadership on the financial implications of significant business decisions, providing objective analysis and strategic recommendations.
  • Ensure the Company maintains a strong financial foundation through effective capital planning, liquidity management, risk assessment, and financial governance.
  • Oversee the finance function, including financial planning and analysis, treasury, budgeting, forecasting, reporting, and accounting, while maintaining an appropriate balance between strategic leadership and operational excellence.
  • Lead the APEL Finance Team in managing Credit and Collections and provide guidance in working with External Agencies to manage programs and ensure compliance (Workers Comp, Tax Reporting, Payroll Administration, Benefits Administration).
  • Periodic travel to APEL’ s facilities in Calgary, Canada and Coburg, OR is required.
Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or related field
  • CPA designation
  • 7+ years of progressive finance leadership experience, including senior management responsibilities
  • Strong knowledge of financial reporting, forecasting, budgeting, and strategic planning
  • Experience leading finance functions in a fast-paced growth-oriented organization
  • Experience with both Canadian and US, Compliance, Tax and GAAP requirements would be preferred.
  • Experience in Financial Management in a Manufacturing Environment is a decided asset.
