Job description

VP, Claims Manager Jobs in Alpharetta, GA

The VP, Claims Manager leads specialty program claims oversight, serving as the senior technical and strategic bridge between the Claims Department and its business partners — underwriting, MGAs, TPAs, reinsurers, brokers, insureds, and claimants. This is a senior leadership role within a growing E&S and specialty programs platform.

Key responsibilities

  • Provide strategic oversight of claims across all specialty program lines, ensuring resolution consistent with program guidelines, reinsurance terms, and regulatory requirements.
  • Manage and audit MGA and TPA claims handling performance — establishing audit protocols, conducting reviews, and implementing corrective action plans.
  • Develop and enforce claims governance frameworks, including reserving philosophies, large loss protocols, and litigation management guidelines.
  • Partner with underwriting, actuarial, and program management to analyze loss trends and inform program renewal decisions.
  • Serve as the senior escalation point on complex, high-severity, and coverage-disputed claims; coordinate with coverage counsel and reinsurers.
  • Monitor and report on claims KPIs, reserve adequacy, and emerging exposures to senior leadership and external reinsurers.
  • Evaluate the claims capabilities of prospective MGA partners during onboarding and program committee reviews.
  • Represent company at industry events; stay current on E&S market trends, regulatory developments, and claims best practices.
  • Support the Chief Claims Officer with daily oversight of Professional Staff and review of existing and future claims processes.

Required qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
  • 10+ years of insurance and/or claims handling experience (commercial claims strongly preferred).
  • Working knowledge of multi-state statutes, including good faith claim handling regulations and guidelines.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and major claims systems.
