Job Summary and Qualifications

The Northeast Market, including Portsmouth, Rochester, Derry, and Manchester, is part of HCA Healthcare's Capital Division, a 17-hospital division spanning Virginia and New Hampshire. The Market Vice President, Cardiac and Vascular Service Lines serves as the strategic leader responsible for developing and executing the market-wide vision, growth strategy, and long-term priorities for Cardiac and Vascular Services across the Northeast Market. 

The Market VP provides leadership across the full continuum of Cardiac and Vascular care, including cardiac disease, interventional cardiology, cardiac electrophysiology, advanced heart failure, structural heart, endovascular services, cardiac surgery, and vascular surgery. In partnership with hospital and division leadership, the Market VP drives service line growth, physician alignment, network development, and optimization, and strategic planning to strengthen market position and improve access to high-quality cardiovascular care. 

Working through influence in a highly matrixed environment, the Market VP partners with hospital leadership to improve operational and clinical performance through strategic initiatives, governance, and performance oversight rather than direct operational management. This individual is expected to identify growth opportunities, build strategic partnerships, and align stakeholders around shared market priorities. 

The Market VP reports to the Capital Division Vice President, Strategic Service Lines, and the Market facility CEOs. The role represents HCA Healthcare with hospital and division executives, physician leaders, and other stakeholders while collaborating across the enterprise to advance cardiovascular strategy and share best practices. 

Candidates should have demonstrated success leading cardiovascular service lines within a multi-hospital healthcare system and possess the strategic, financial, and physician leadership capabilities necessary to influence outcomes across a complex, matrixed organization.

Key Focus Areas 

The Market Vice President, Cardiac and Vascular Service Lines will lead and execute in the following key focus areas: 

Market Strategy 

Develop and execute a multi-year cardiac and vascular strategic plan aligned with Market and Division priorities 

Evaluate emerging market opportunities, competitive threats and changing referral dynamics

Identify future program investments and market expansion opportunities 

Develop business cases for new service offerings 

Program Development 

Identify, develop, and rebuild and/or implement Cardiac and Vascular service line growth strategies in partnership with Hospital and Division leadership and other HCA Healthcare key stakeholders

Build and maintain strong relationships with affiliated, integrated and/or employed providers to develop service line strategy; partner with HCA Physician Services and Physician Development Teams.

Lead business planning and support strategic analytics related to new and existing programs, services, products, and capital projects 

Develop and lead service line governance inclusive of administrative, clinical and Physician Services (PSG) leadership 

Utilize monthly performance reporting including operational, clinical, market share, volume, and financial metrics to measure success of cardiac and vascular service line strategies

Network Development and Optimization 

Lead and/or support physician recruitment efforts 

Assess and develop new access points (e.g., clinics, FSERs, Urgent Care, etc.) to expand network and continuity of care for these service lines 

Assess and optimize the network to ensure strong connectivity and care continuity from existing access points (urgent care, FSER, physician clinics, transferring facilities) when in need of follow-up specialty care in cardiac and vascular service lines 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities 

Demonstrated strategic leadership with the ability to develop and execute market-wide service line growth strategies 

Strong business acumen, including market analysis, competitive assessment, and capital investment evaluation 

Proven ability to influence executive, physician, and clinical leaders across a complex, matrixed organization without direct operational authority 

Experience building strategic partnerships with employed, affiliated, and independent physicians to advance service line objectives 

Strong analytical skills with the ability to translate clinical, operational, financial, and market data into actionable strategic recommendations 

Demonstrated success leading complex, cross-functional initiatives that improve growth, access, quality, and financial performance 

Excellent executive communication and presentation skills, with the ability to effectively convey complex information to senior leadership and governance groups 

Experience leading governance structures, facilitating executive decision-making, and driving accountability across multiple hospitals 

Key Performance Indicators: market share growth, new program implementation, network expansion, access improvement, financial performance, governance 

Education 

  • Bachelor’s Degree required, Master’s Degree in business or healthcare administration preferred 

Travel: Anticipated 10% outside of the Northeast Market, as needed

Experience 

  • 8–10 years progressive healthcare leadership experience including multi-hospital service line leadership 
  • Experience working with multiple hospitals or geographic regions preferred 
  • HCA Healthcare experience preferred
