Job description

About this position

Toho International, Inc. is the U.S. subsidiary of Toho Company, Limited, a premier Japanese entertainment studio. The company manages and commercializes Tohoโ€™s extensive intellectual property portfolio, with a special focus on the iconic Godzilla brand. Toho Company, Limited is renowned for creating, producing, showcasing, and distributing compelling live-action and anime content for motion pictures, television, and theater. This legacy makes Toho International a pivotal player in the entertainment industry, offering exciting opportunities for creative and legal professionals.

About us:

We are storytellers, dreamers, and curators of culture. As the U.S. arm of Toho, home of iconic characters (like Godzilla) and GKIDS, the acclaimed distributor of the worldโ€™s best animated films, we bring bold, imaginative stories from Japan and around the globe to audiences everywhere. Together, we champion artistry, celebrate fandom, and build unforgettable worlds across film, merchandise, and beyond.

Summary

The Vice President of Information Technology is a strategic and hands-on leader responsible for defining and executing the companyโ€™s technology vision to support global growth across content distribution, licensing, merchandising, and eCommerce.

This role leads a small but high-impact team including the Director of IT & Workplace Operations and specialized technical resources and serves as a key partner to executive leadership. The VP will balance long-term technology strategy with deep technical fluency, ensuring that systems are scalable, integrated, and aligned with business objectives.

Unlike a purely strategic role, this leader is expected to play a key role in strategy, execution and maintenance of our IT infrastructure: capable of diving into architecture, integrations, and system decisions, while elevating the team and function overall.

What youโ€™ll do:

  • Define and execute a multi-year IT and systems roadmap aligned with company growth. Partner with executive leadership to evaluate technology investments, trade offs, and ROI. Translate business priorities into scalable systems and infrastructure decisions
  • Partner with business teams to implement new systems across the business to support growth
  • Lead and develop a lean IT organization. Establish clear ownership, accountability, and development paths across the team. Operate as a playerโ€“coach, providing technical guidance and stepping in when needed
  • Oversee the architecture, implementation, and optimization of core systems, including but not limited to ERP (e.g., NetSuite), Business Intelligence, eCommerce platforms (e.g., Shopify, HRIS, CRM, and project management tools. Ensure systems are integrated, scalable, and support cross-functional workflows. Lead build vs. buy decisions and minimize unnecessary customization
  • Systems integrations (APIs, middleware, data pipelines). Data flow architecture across platforms. Technical problem-solving for complex or high-impact issues. Ensure strong documentation, maintainability, and long-term scalability of systems. Partner with business leaders to define data and performance needs across licensing, merchandising, and theatrical operations, and ensure the systems, integrations, and reporting infrastructure are in place to support them. Partner with Finance and leadership to improve visibility into key metrics (e.g.,
  • revenue per headcount, system ROI). Enable reliable reporting and decision-making through integrated systems
  • Define and enforce security policies, controls, and incident response protocols. Ensure compliance with relevant standards (e.g., GDPR, SOC2, J-SOX). Oversee risk management, audits, and vendor security practices. Oversee and maintain Security for Intellectual Property infrastructure. Ensure high-performing IT operations through oversight of the Director and team. Maintain system uptime, performance, and user satisfaction. Establish scalable processes to support growth, new business lines, and international expansion
  • Lead technology due diligence and integration efforts for acquisitions and partnerships. Support organizational scaling, new market entry, and evolving business models. Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, reduce manual work, and enable growth through technology.

What youโ€™ll have:

  • 10โ€“15+ years of progressive IT experience, including senior leadership in a high-growth or complex environment
  • Proven experience managing and scaling enterprise systems, particularly NetSuite and eCommerce ecosystems

Strong technical expertise in:

  • Systems integration (APIs, middleware, data architecture)
  • SaaS ecosystems and enterprise tooling
  • Infrastructure, MDM, and cybersecurity frameworks
  • Demonstrated ability to operate as both a strategic leader and hands-on technical contributor
  • Experience leading small, high-impact teams with a playerโ€“coach mindset
  • Strong business acumen, with the ability to connect technology decisions to revenue, efficiency, and growth
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills

Why Join Us?

  • Shape Global Fandom: At Toho International and GKIDS, we blend iconic storytelling with modern eCommerce, theatrical distribution, and digital strategies to deliver unforgettable experiences to fans around the world. From Godzilla to award-winning animated films and beloved anime titles, youโ€™ll help bring legendary stories to life for new and future generations.
  • Create, Collaborate, Grow: Youโ€™ll work in a tight-knit, creative, and highly collaborative team where your ideas and impact matter. Innovation is encouraged and expected.
  • Grow with Us: As we expand our global reach and capabilities, youโ€™ll find opportunities to grow your career, build new skills, and shape systems that scale with us.
