Job description

The goal of** SSI, Inc.** has been to provide our customers with top quality services related to Variable Frequency Drives. We install, start-up, repair, and provide additional on-site services including VFD optimization.

We are seeking field service technician both experienced and entry level to work on Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs) in the commercial HVAC market. These drives are used to control motor speeds on pumps and fans in large commercial buildings such as hospitals, universities, schools, water treatment plants, government and commercial offices. Our technicians work with large AC Voltages up to 480VDC as well as small control voltages such as 24VDC. Therefore, a working knowledge of electrical components and electricity in general is necessary.

The areas we service include Western Pennsylvania, Ohio, Northern West Virginia, Northern Virginia, Washington DC, and Southern Michigan. Most work is daily Monday through Friday, however, there is occasional night and weekend demands. Our technicians are compensated for travel time. If a company vehicle is not being used, mileage for use of a personal vehicle is reimbursed.

Responsibilities

  • Installing, starting up, troubleshooting, and general service of VFDs
  • Knowing proper operation of hand and power tools, running wires, conduit work, and use of electronic measuring tools – multi-meters, amp clamps, and harmonic analyzers
  • Traveling to clients

Requirements

  • 3+ years of hands-on VFD experience in the field
  • Prior experience with VFDs as they apply to AHUs, pump applications, and cooling towers is a plus
  • Working knowledge of the HVAC loop, circuitry, and schematics
  • Building Management Systems experience / working knowledge
  • Valid Driver’s License
  • Ability to lift at least 75 lbs.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Suites (Outlook, Excel, Word)
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Willingness to work and learn

The estimated pay range for this position is $24 - $40 hourly. The salary listed is an estimate and is not guaranteed.
