Key/Essential Functions & Responsibilities

  • Develops, maintains and implements nursing policies and procedures that conform to current standards of nursing practice, organizational philosophy and operational policies, while maintaining compliance with State, Federal and other applicable laws and regulations.
  • Ensures that all new hires and existing staff receive appropriate training and/or retraining on the Electronic Health Record and other applications as required by the organization.
  • Oversees and supervises day-to-day operations of nurses (RNs and LPNs) and Medical Assistants (MAs) through direct oversight of Registered Nurse(s) and Charge LPNs for all Premier locations, ensuring compliant and quality service delivery.
  • In collaboration with Charge LPNs, ensures appropriate staffing and schedules for nursing and MAs to support operational needs and participates in recruitment and selection of staff, as needed.
  • Supports management, growth and development of staff by ensuring and/or documenting supervisions, regularly evaluating work performance and completing performance evaluations in accordance with Premier Policies.
  • Conducts regular reviews of nursing-related policies, procedures and practices, recommending changes to increase efficiency and effectiveness or improve quality of care and patient experience.
  • Communicates and implements all new or updated policies and procedures to nursing department staff and monitors to ensure successful implementation.
  • Monitors to ensure that the administrative team is participating in management team meetings and grand rounds and regularly conducting morning huddles to support the delivery of quality care, as evidenced by adequate services and staff coverage; participates in meetings, as needed.
  • Ensures that nursing staff appropriately document, bill and close out nursing encounters.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of application of clinical quality indicators and proactively monitors performance relative to these indicators, analyzing data and addressing deficiencies or areas for improvement.
  • Works with other Premier administrators to ensure the development and implementation of policies and procedures that support quality improvement and quality assurance, regularly monitoring adherence to all applicable safety and health regulations and internal standards to ensure patient safety and maintain physical safety of the facilities.
  • Ensures facility compliance and routine inspections of all clinic locations to guarantee all mandates are met including but not limited to Emergency carts, inspection of all medical equipment, vaccines and all other medical supplies.
  • Regularly monitors and receives updates from Charge LPNs to ensure clinics maintain and order adequate inventory of medications and other medical supplies.
  • Collaborates with Call Center Manager to monitor customer service, timeliness and resolutions relating to inquiries or requests received on the prescription and nursing hotlines.
  • Supports the organization with all Patient Center Medical Home (PCMH) measures; works with Information Technology Department to gather all reports, documents and data needed to fulfill grant requirements and ensures that all workflows and policies are followed.
  • In collaboration with administrative team, oversees consultants involved with various grants including PCMH and Meaningful Use.
  • Acts as Site Security Administrator for all Premier locations and coordinates operations with Charge Nurses for the Vaccines for Children (VFC) program.
  • Works with Director of Clinical Operations, Medical Director and other administrators on Premier Initiatives, as requested.
  • Performs all other duties, as assigned.

Minimum Qualification Requirements including education, experience, licensure/certification, etc. and essential physical capabilities (e.g. lifting, assisting lifting, standing, etc.)

  • Valid license and current registration as a Registered Nurse issued by the New York State Education Department (NYSED); and
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification for Healthcare Providers; and
  • Five (5) years of professional nursing experience including use of an Electronic Health Record (EHR) system in a healthcare facility.
  • Ability to handle a fast-paced environment and appropriately prioritize tasks based on importance to meet deadlines or other requirements.
  • Excellent interpersonal, problem solving and communication skills, along with the ability to effectively interact with patients and clinicians, while providing quality service.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, email management and electronic health record, including the ability to understand or learn to operate or use computer equipment, software and/or electronic programs.
  • Well organized and detail oriented.
  • Must possess and demonstrate a high degree of leadership and organizational ability.

Preferred Qualification Requirements (desired requirements beyond MQRs above)

  • Bachelor or Master of Science in Nursing degree
  • RN experience in an outpatient medical clinic and/or experience supervising clinical staff as a nursing supervisor, manager or head/charge nurse
  • Experience with patients with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities (I/DD)
  • Verbal and/or written fluency in a second language, Spanish highly preferred

Compensation

  • $118,000.00 Annually
