What You'll Do:
 
  • Serve to support the practice team, setting the bar for providing high-level, proficient veterinary support care and embodying the Chewy Vet Care culture to work collaboratively with peers and deliver the pet parent WOW experience.
  • Responsible for implementing the outlined policies and procedures, using integrated technology, and delivering consistent and appropriate medical care within the given abilities.
  • Perform veterinary assistant skills to support practice veterinarians, including assistance with operating medical equipment (like lab, radiology, anesthesia, dental) and performing functions that require handling animal bodily fluids and tissues.
  • Demonstrate team support and care for others’ work experiences.
  • Understand and follow the practice’s Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Standards of Care (SOC)
  • Review invoices with clients and handle client payments.
  • Communicate clearly and respectfully with other Team Members, keeping veterinarians informed in real time on patient updates (in practice, at referral, and under home care)
  • Be proficient using the PIMS and aid others on the team in their use of the technology.
  • Act responsibly given the pharmacy holdings of the practice and keep controlled substance logs.
  • Assist practice manager with communicating on inventory needs.
  • Clean workspaces after every patient or patient lab sample interaction.
  • Participation in self-development courses and Chewy Vet Care required compliance training.
  • Perform related duties and assignments as directed by management.
  • May be required to work weekends, position may require some travel.

What You’ll Need:
 
  • Successful completion of an accredited veterinary assistant program is preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to complete the veterinary assistant skills checklist for Veterinary Assistant.
  • 1 - 2 years of experience as a Veterinary Assistant in practice.
  • Experience in veterinary medicine
  • Passionate about helping people and pets with empathy and excellent customer service focus.
  • Strong ability to connect with clients and demonstrate empathy and compassion.
  • Excellent verbal / written communication, observational, and analytical skills.
  • Must have the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

Physical Job Requirements:
 
  • Standing or walking up to 80% per shift.
  • Frequently lift up to 50 to 70 pounds using an optional team lift.
  • Occasionally lift greater than 70+ pounds using a team lift.
  • Stand, push, pull, carry, squat, and kneel.

The hourly range for this role is $16.58 - $25.00.
