What does a veterinary manager do?

A veterinary manager oversees various aspects of a veterinary practice. Your duties and responsibilities in this career vary depending on the type of facility in which you work and the department you manage. What skills and qualifications are needed to be a veterinary manager?

To thrive as a Veterinary Manager, you need strong leadership abilities, a background in veterinary medicine or animal health, and experience in clinic operations, often supported by a DVM degree or veterinary technician certification. Familiarity with veterinary practice management software, inventory systems, and regulatory compliance tools is typically required. Outstanding communication, problem-solving, and team-building skills set exceptional managers apart in this role.
