What you'll be doing...
Join Verizon as we continue to expand our industry-leading network to improve the ways people, businesses, and things connect. As a Network Operations Engineer, you will provide technical expertise on a critical role involving network transformation, network outages, service issues, network optimization, and maintenance. You will be responsible for providing support to keep things running smoothly and change the way that our customers live, work, and play. We are a 24x7 highly visible Operations environment that performs troubleshooting, configuration changes, drive issues to resolution, and related functions.
  • Performing optimization, troubleshooting, and maintenance of network systems and applications to identify overall system availability and performance.
  • Evaluating network coverage to find gaps, making recommendations to improve coverage, and helping to implement those recommendations.
  • Performing triage, fault isolation, and remediation of network events.
  • Generating, driving, and updating problem-tracking tickets via multiple systems and continuously improving business practices.
  • Escalating issues to the appropriate internal/external engineer teams for resolution.

What we're looking for...
Being the first one to encounter and solve a problem is enjoyable to you. You're great at following an established process or procedure to complete tasks. Experience navigating and working well at all levels in a fast-paced, ever-changing network environment. You are dependable and enjoy supporting the rotational needs of a technical environment.
You'll need to have:
  • Associate's degree or two or more years of work experience.
  • Three or more years of relevant experience required, demonstrated through work experience and/or military experience.
  • Willingness to work rotating shifts including weekends and holidays.

Even better if you have one or more of the following:
  • A technical degree in Electronics, Telecommunications, Computer Science, Engineering, Business or a related discipline.
  • Knowledge of telecommunications equipment and technologies like Telephony Switching, Data Communications and Network Routers.
  • Computer support experience, including troubleshooting PC hardware and configurations.
  • Vendor management experience.
