What is Venture Optical Management?

Venture Optical Management refers to the oversight and administration of optical businesses or ventures, such as optometry clinics, eyewear retail stores, or optical labs. Professionals in this field are responsible for managing daily operations, financial performance, staff, inventory, and customer service. They may also be involved in business development, marketing strategies, and ensuring compliance with industry regulations. The goal is to ensure the optical business runs efficiently, remains profitable, and provides high-quality products and services to clients.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a venture optical manager, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Venture Optical Manager, you need expertise in optical retail operations, business management, and a solid understanding of eyewear products, often supported by a background in optometry or retail management. Familiarity with point-of-sale (POS) systems, inventory management software, and optical lab equipment is typically required. Strong leadership, customer service, and problem-solving skills help in effectively managing teams and ensuring client satisfaction. These competencies are crucial for driving store performance, maintaining high service standards, and achieving business growth in a competitive market.

What are some common challenges faced by professionals in venture optical management, and how can they be addressed?

Professionals in Venture Optical Management often encounter challenges such as keeping pace with rapidly evolving optical technologies, managing cross-functional teams, and aligning project goals with both technical feasibility and business objectives. Effective communication and continuous learning are crucial to navigating these complexities. Building strong relationships with R&D, product development, and business stakeholders helps ensure successful project outcomes and fosters innovation in a fast-paced environment.

What is the difference between Venture Optical Management vs Optical Sales Associate?

AspectVenture Optical ManagementOptical Sales Associate
CredentialsTypically requires optical management experience, possibly certification in optical dispensing or managementHigh school diploma or equivalent; optical training often provided on the job
Work EnvironmentSupervisory role in optical retail or healthcare settings, overseeing staff and operationsCustomer service-focused role in optical stores, assisting customers with frame and lens selection
Employer & Industry UsageOptical retail chains, healthcare providers, private practicesOptical retail stores, eyewear boutiques, optical departments in retail chains

Venture Optical Management involves overseeing optical store operations and staff, requiring management experience and certifications. In contrast, Optical Sales Associates focus on customer service and sales, often with minimal formal credentials. Job description

Senior Electrical Engineer - Lead High-Speed Hardware Design and Product Architecture
Gardena, CA | On-site
Opportunity Summary
Join a venture-backed hardware startup developing next-generation systems that combine advanced packaging, high-speed electronics, and precision components for demanding applications. This role will lead electrical development across a complex product platform, with full ownership over system architecture, board design, and validation from early concept through production. As a senior engineer on a small, high-performing team, you will drive key technical decisions that directly impact product performance, manufacturability, and scalability. The position is highly hands-on, spanning schematic design, signal integrity, bring-up, and production readiness, while collaborating closely with cross-functional teams across firmware, mechanical, and manufacturing.
About Us
We are an early-stage engineering team focused on building high-performance hardware systems at scale. The company operates at the intersection of advanced electronics, packaging, and manufacturing, with an emphasis on delivering reliable, production-ready products in technically demanding environments. Backed by strong funding and led by experienced operators, the team is focused on rapid development and execution.
Job Duties
  • Lead architecture and design of complex multilayer PCB systems, including power distribution, high-speed interfaces, control circuitry, and debug access
  • Define electrical system trade-offs across performance, signal integrity, thermal constraints, manufacturability, and testability
  • Own signal and power integrity strategy, including simulation, analysis, and margin closure prior to fabrication
  • Drive board bring-up, validation, and system-level debugging, establishing repeatable processes for production
  • Develop evaluation platforms for new components, defining test infrastructure to characterize and qualify devices
  • Establish electrical validation plans and compliance strategies for high-speed interfaces and critical subsystems
  • Build automated test and programming infrastructure in partnership with firmware and manufacturing teams
  • Collaborate with manufacturing to ensure robust DFM and DFT practices, optimizing for yield and serviceability
  • Analyze production data and field failures to identify root causes and implement corrective actions
  • Contribute to internal standards for design, documentation, and engineering reviews

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field
  • 6+ years of experience designing high-speed hardware systems through full product lifecycle
  • Strong experience with schematic capture and multilayer PCB design using tools such as Altium or similar
  • Deep understanding of signal integrity, power integrity, and high-speed interfaces such as SerDes, PCIe, Ethernet, or DDR
  • Hands-on lab experience with oscilloscopes, VNAs, TDR, BERTs, and advanced debugging techniques
  • Proven experience leading board bring-up and resolving system-level hardware issues
  • Experience working closely with manufacturing teams on production readiness, including DFM and DFT
  • Comfortable operating in a fast-paced environment with evolving priorities

Preferred Experience
  • Background in high-performance hardware, optics, photonics, semiconductors, or compute systems
  • Experience building automated electrical test systems for production or validation environments
  • Familiarity with firmware programming and debug workflows such as JTAG, SWD, or ISP
  • Experience mentoring engineers or leading hardware development efforts
  • Scripting experience for automation or data analysis using Python, MATLAB, or similar tools
  • Experience with SI/PI simulation tools such as HFSS, SIwave, or HyperLynx
  • Exposure to advanced PCB technologies including rigid-flex, HDI, or RF design
  • Knowledge of EMC and EMI design practices and compliance testing
  • Familiarity with configuration management systems and engineering change processes

Why Join Us
  • High ownership role with direct impact on product and technical direction
  • Opportunity to work on complex hardware challenges from concept through production
  • Close collaboration with a small, experienced engineering team
  • Equity participation and performance-based incentives
  • Exposure to both product development and manufacturing scale-up

Compensation Details
$170,000 - $210,000
