Job description

A Costco Optometrist is a licensed eye care professional operating independently within a Costco Optical Center, providing comprehensive eye exams, diagnosing ocular diseases, and prescribing corrective lenses.

Key Responsibilities & Duties

  • Comprehensive Care: Conduct thorough eye exams, diagnose ocular diseases, and provide pre- and post-operative care.
  • Prescription & Referral: Prescribe glasses and contact lenses, and make referrals for specialized care as needed.
  • Patient Education: Counsel patients on eye health, hygiene, and preventative care.
  • Documentation: Maintain accurate, detailed patient records, often utilizing Electronic Health Records (EHR).
  • Equipment Management: Utilize state-of-the-art diagnostic equipment for patient exams.

Requirements & Qualifications

  • Education: Doctor of Optometry (O.D.) degree from an accredited school.
  • Licensure: Valid state license to practice optometry.
  • Skills: Strong clinical diagnostic skills, excellent interpersonal communication, and a customer-service orientation.
