Construction Project Engineer (Indiana)
Core Responsibilities
The Construction Project Engineer will be supported by a team of construction experts. The Construction Project Engineer typically reports to the Project Manager and may be in direct report relation to the Construction Superintendent (project dependent) and works closely with company Executives.
When managing a construction project, safety comes first, communication is key, and participation in all construction activities is required. The type of projects to look forward to with this Construction Project Engineer role include higher education facilities, sporting venues, hospitality, correctional, industrial, as well as, joint venture related engagements.
A breakdown of day-to-day activities
  • Review, analyze, and resolve design and construction problems and discrepancies
  • Interact with client representatives, A/E representatives, and contractors as required
  • Insure all project engineering activities comply with the schedule and contract requirements
  • Provide technical support to determine the most cost-effective and schedule efficient methods for construction
  • Manage engineering procedures and other document control functions
  • Track and maintain material procurement
  • Maintain design documents to stay current with on-site construction
  • Assist with schedule maintenance, monitoring for adherence, and advisement of potential schedule problems
  • Resolve problems to ensure quality of construction and maintain specification integrity
  • Represent company as required in all client, A/E, and contractor meetings
  • Confirm contract/purchase order scope is maintained in accordance with contractual requirements
  • Responsible for submittal tracking, project logs; all processing, coordination, and documentation as required to facilitate project. Maintain official project log and documentation files.
  • Perform additional assignments per Supervisor's direction.

A strong candidate has the following skills and qualifications
  • 4-year engineering or construction degree or equivalent training and experience
  • 5-8 years of relevant construction engineering experience
  • Advance knowledge of construction engineering technology, building codes and standards
  • Complete understanding of the interdependence and relationship between function units
  • Good communication (verbal and written) and interpersonal skills
  • Able to manage software solutions utilized to include Prolog Sky, Bluebeam, Textura CPM, Sage Construction and Real Estate, and scheduling (Primavera P6)
  • Is a problem solver and can easily execute a situation diagnosis
  • Very familiar with construction documents
  • Can provide technical input in support of field activities
  • Has a clear understanding of the technical aspects of all construction disciplines
  • Needs minimal direction and supervision
  • Can train subordinate engineers
