DH Machine, Inc. is a leading metal fabricator serving the agricultural, construction, truck/trailer, RV OEM, and industrial machinery markets. With over 250 employees across seven plants in Elkhart County, we pride ourselves on a culture of teamwork, operational excellence, and an unwavering commitment to quality and service.


Position Overview

  • The Costing Lead analyzes product prints to build standardized Bills of Materials and develop accurate standard costs for our finished goods.


What you'll do

  • Read and interpret engineering prints and drawings to scope each job
  • Build accurate, detailed Bills of Materials (BOMs) for new and recurring work
  • Develop cost estimates that account for material, labor, and our in-house processes (laser, weld, powder coat, assembly)
  • Partner with sales, engineering, and the plant floor to keep quotes accurate and competitive
  • Lead and support the costing team, setting standards for accuracy and turnaround
  • Maintain organized cost records, quote logs, and vendor documentation
  • Communicate clearly across departments by email, phone, and in person to keep jobs moving


What you'll need

  • Ability to read and understand manufacturing prints and drawings
  • Experience building BOMs from prints or specs
  • Solid understanding of manufacturing processes and how they drive cost
  • Proficiency with computers and spreadsheets (Excel) and the ability to learn our ERP/costing system
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Comfortable spending the majority of the day at a computer
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented, able to manage multiple quotes and deadlines at once
  • Dependable and self-directed, with the ability to prioritize a busy workload


Preferred

  • Hands-on or estimating experience in metal fabrication (laser cutting, welding, powder coat)
  • Prior team lead or supervisory experience
  • Familiarity with ERP or MRP systems


Schedule
This is a full-time, in-office position with semi-flexible start times. Choose the shift that works best for you: 5:00 AM – 1:00 PM, 6:00 AM – 2:00 PM, or 7:00 AM – 3:00 PM.
