SENIOR TECHNICAL DELIVERY EXCELLENCE PROJECT MANAGER – ENGINEERING EXCELLENCE
Location; Newport Beach, CA
JOB DESCRIPTION
As a Senior Technical Project Manager supporting the Engineering Excellence organization, you will lead the delivery of initiatives designed to improve engineering execution, developer productivity, delivery velocity, and platform effectiveness across the enterprise. You will work closely with engineering, DevOps, platform, and architecture teams to translate technical strategy into clear, executable plans, driving outcomes from planning through implementation and adoption.
This job requires more than traditional project coordination. This role requires a technically fluent delivery leader who can operate confidently at the intersection of:

We are looking for a consultative, technically fluent project manager who can:
 

  • Actively engage in and facilitate technical discussions at a working level
  • Understand how engineering systems and delivery processes function together
  • Drive clarity, accountability, and execution across complex technical initiatives
  • Understand architecture and operational dependencies at a working level
  • Ask probing and technically informed questions of engineers and architects, challenge assumptions, identify delivery gaps, and translate technical complexity into clear, executive-ready updates

 
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Engineering Excellence Delivery
 

  • Lead delivery of enterprise initiatives focused on improving:
    • Developer productivity and engineering workflows
    • CI/CD pipelines, release automation, and deployment practices
    • Delivery tooling and engineering systems (e.g., backlog management, reporting, planning tools)
    • Engineering metrics, performance visibility, and delivery predictability
    • Technical debt reduction and modernization initiatives
  • Translate engineering strategy and initiatives into:
    • Clear delivery plans
    • Defined milestones, dependencies, and success criteria
  • Ensure delivery aligns to both:
    • Engineering priorities
    • Enterprise commitments and timelines

 
Technical Delivery Leadership
 

  • Partner directly with engineering and architecture teams to:
    • Understand technical concepts, delivery models, and system dependencies
    • Validate delivery sequencing, risks, and execution approach
    • Identify gaps in planning, readiness, or implementation strategies
  • Engage in discussions around:
    • Application architecture and system interactions
    • DevOps practices and CI/CD pipelines
    • Delivery tooling ecosystems and data flows
  • Challenge assumptions and drive alignment on:

QUALIFICATIONS
Core Delivery Experience
 

  • 7–10+ years of program/project management experience in enterprise environments
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related field preferred.
  • Proven experience delivering complex technology or engineering-driven initiatives
  • Experience operating in Agile, SAFe, or hybrid delivery environments

 
Technical Fluency
 

  • Demonstrated ability to work directly with engineers and architects, understand how engineering systems, tools, and workflows operate, and engage in technical discussions with credibility.
  • Working knowledge of software development lifecycles and engineering practices, DevOps concepts, CI/CD pipelines, and release processes, application architecture, integrations, and system dependencies, data flows, reporting systems, and engineering metrics.

 
Execution and Delivery Capability
 

  • Strong experience managing cross-team dependencies, complex delivery timelines, and multi-workstream programs.
  • Demonstrated ability to drive delivery discipline, manage competing priorities, and navigate ambiguity and complexity.

  • Ability to translate technical concepts into clear outcomes, influence stakeholders across engineering and business teams, and drive alignment and decision-making.

  • Proficient in M365 productivity tools (SharePoint, MS Teams, PowerPoint, Excel) and collaboration tools such as Smartsheet and Azure DevOps.
  • Experience using Azure DevOps or similar tools to manage backlogs, delivery milestones, dependencies, and technical workstream visibility.
