Job description

The Vehicle Compliance & Regulatory Affairs Manager is responsible for ensuring all vehicles manufactured by Noovo comply with applicable Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards (FMVSS), National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) regulations, Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) requirements, state vehicle regulations, and other applicable automotive and RV industry standards.
This role serves as the company's subject matter expert for vehicle regulatory compliance and acts as the primary liaison with NHTSA, regulatory agencies, chassis manufacturers,
certification partners, testing laboratories, and industry organizations.
The Vehicle Compliance & Regulatory Affairs Manager partners closely with Engineering,
Manufacturing, Quality, Supply Chain, Product Development, Service, and Executive
Leadership to ensure compliance requirements are incorporated into product design,
manufacturing processes, vehicle modifications, and field service activities throughout the
product lifecycle.
Essential Responsibilities
Regulatory Compliance Management
Monitor and maintain compliance with all applicable NHTSA regulations.
Ensure compliance with Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards (FMVSS).
Maintain awareness of changes to federal and state vehicle regulations.
Evaluate regulatory impact of design changes and new products.
Develop and maintain compliance policies and procedures.
Serve as the primary company representative for regulatory compliance matters.
Vehicle Certification & Documentation
Manage vehicle certification activities.
Maintain certification records and supporting documentation.
Coordinate vehicle labeling and certification requirements.
Ensure proper completion and retention of compliance documentation.
Maintain records supporting vehicle conformity and regulatory compliance.
Manage compliance files for current and future vehicle platforms.
Product Development Compliance
Participate in product development and engineering reviews.
Evaluate proposed vehicle modifications for compliance impact.
Review engineering changes and ECOs for regulatory implications.
Ensure compliance requirements are incorporated into vehicle design.
Support new product introductions and vehicle platform changes.
Develop compliance checklists for engineering and manufacturing teams.
Testing & Validation
Coordinate vehicle testing activities.
Manage third-party compliance testing laboratories.
Review and approve compliance test plans.
Maintain compliance testing records.
Analyze test results and identify corrective actions when required.
Support validation of new products and engineering changes.
NHTSA & Regulatory Agency Interface
Serve as primary contact with NHTSA and other regulatory agencies.
Coordinate responses to regulatory inquiries.
Support regulatory inspections and audits.
Monitor safety investigations and industry regulatory developments.
Maintain professional relationships with industry compliance organizations.
Recall & Field Action Management
Support investigation of field issues and potential safety concerns.
Participate in risk assessments related to vehicle safety.
Coordinate documentation related to recalls and field actions when required.
Support execution of corrective action plans.
Maintain records associated with safety investigations and corrective actions.
Supplier & Chassis Compliance
Work with chassis manufacturers regarding compliance requirements.
Support supplier qualification activities related to regulated components.
Review supplier documentation supporting compliance requirements.
Ensure purchased components meet applicable regulatory standards.
Participate in supplier corrective action activities involving compliance issues.
Manufacturing Compliance Oversight
Verify manufacturing processes support vehicle certification requirements.
Conduct periodic compliance audits of production activities.
Ensure critical compliance characteristics are properly controlled.
Partner with Quality and Production to address compliance-related findings.
Support implementation of corrective and preventive actions.
Leadership Responsibilities
Provide compliance guidance to Engineering and Manufacturing teams.
Train employees on vehicle compliance requirements.
Promote a culture of safety and regulatory awareness.
Support executive leadership in managing compliance risk.
Lead cross-functional compliance reviews.
Qualifications
Education
Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Automotive Engineering, Mechanical Engineering,
Industrial Engineering, Regulatory Affairs, or related field.
Experience
5+ years of experience in vehicle compliance, automotive engineering, regulatory affairs,
product safety, or quality systems.
Experience with NHTSA regulations and FMVSS requirements.
Experience supporting vehicle manufacturing operations.
Experience managing product compliance programs.
RV, automotive, commercial vehicle, specialty vehicle, or transportation industry
experience strongly preferred.
