Lead Diesel Maintenance Technician
Job Overview
The Lead Vehicle Technician will coordinate technician training, schedule work assignments and manage workflow, complete shop safety, operational audits, manage parts room inventory, replenishment and review, audit repair orders. The Lead will spend a portion of their day repairing, and maintaining all types of customer vehicles, and equipment, including routinely performing preventative maintenance and corrective maintenance to ensure efficient vehicle operations to perform job duties independently, with limited supervision; mentor for vehicle technicians, as needed, and will need to provide their own tools.
Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Maintain safe and clean conditions in all Fleet Maintenance facilities.
  • Serve as a mentor for Vehicle Technicians B and C, may perform other duties as assigned
  • Perform a complete diesel engine overhaul as necessary to rebuild, and repair drive chain components, automatic brake systems, etc. through an in-depth understanding of the equipment and processes; serveas an auditor to ensure jobs are complete and that all safety standards are maintained
  • Balance and manage workloads at multiple locations to ensure that all assets are repairedin atimelymanner
  • Performotherdutiesasassigned,includingcoveremployeevacationswhenneeded
  • Assist with vehicle maintenance in an efficient and cost-effective manner
  • Routinely communicates with the management team about any issues or problems requiring attention
  • Develop andmaintaina cooperative team shop environment through eective oversite of work activitiesand through partnering with teammates to complete the assigned workload
  • Maintain accurate parts inventory, research and resolve all discovered inventory discrepancies andnoties maintenance management when a resolution is not available

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
  • Basic skills in welding and cutting torch operation
  • Basic electrical, mechanical diagnostics, and repair
  • Ability to schedule and prioritize daily tasks
  • Basic PC knowledge ABS diagnosis and repairs
  • Understanding of tire inflation systems
  • Knowledge of how to mount and dismount tires
  • Ability to comprehend and follow verbal and written instructions tools, equipment, machinery and, or materials used to power, hand, diagnostic tools operate material handling equipment
  • Operate material handling equipment
  • Must be capable of driving company equipment, including class 8 tractors indoor, outdoor and roadside work
  • Willingness to work any shift on the 24/7 Service Center, including Nights and, or Weekends as needed
  • Must be able to liftup to 50lbs
  • Must be able to stand and walk for shift assigned
Minimum Qualifications
  • Must be at least 18 years old
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Knowledge acquired through 5-7 years of relevant work experience
  • D.O.T. Brake Inspection certification
  • Ability to obtain a DOT medical certificate
  • Valid Driver's License
