Job description

Summary


Manages the planning, implementation, and strategy of Subaru's national vehicle logistics network, ensuring that retailer deliveries are timely and efficient. Works closely with strategic railroad partners and auto hauling partners, acting as the lead on negotiations, contracting, RFPs, and the overall network performance.


Primary Responsibilities

  • Develops and implements a long-term strategic direction for Subaru of America's (SOA's) vehicle logistics network, focusing on key contributors in rail, truck, and barge. Works closely with Director - Logistics & Port Operations and managers in Sales - Logistics department with the purpose of developing logistics strategies to support wholesale and retail goals, support the Port/Subaru Yard Operations (SYO) processing objectives, and lead carrier/vendor communications related to SOA objectives.
  • Facilitates effective communications of SOA's vehicle logistics strategy with both internal (SOA departments and Regions) and external sources (various logistics providers).
  • Ensures Logistics team is a key contributor to monthly wholesale planning with focus on the goals of efficient port processing, timely vehicle deliveries, and attainable wholesale/retail sales objectives.
  • Fosters positive partnerships and serves as negotiation lead with SOA's key vehicle logistics providers, including rail carriers, truck carriers, at times port processors, and other industry groups.
  • Ensures that SOA's vehicle logistics network supports the company's vehicle transportation financial objectives and wholesale/retail sales goals.
  • Becomes a key SOA resource for knowledge of rail and truck economics and internal operations that drive these service providers.
  • Manages headquarters Logistics team with daily operations and support. Works with Logistics team members on yearly goals and career development.
  • Works with internal team and Subaru Corporation (SBR) on ensuring efficient ocean shipping to support consistent port operations and inland transportation.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Leads the planning and execution of SOA annual Logistics Partner Summit - works with presenters, creating messaging, and aligning on content.
  • Represents SOA at automotive logistics conferences and forums.
  • Becomes familiar with skilled (long shore, teamster, and railway) labor rules and agreements to ensure best practices in SOA port operations and logistics.
  • Utilizes understanding of logistics software applications as well as serves as main point of contact with IT and stakeholder in the prioritization and development of Logistics and Port technology projects.
  • Collaborates with Director - Port Operations & Logistics and National Port Operations Manager on port initiatives related to transportation, technology, and contract negotiations.
  • Actively participates on the Automotive Logistic Executive Committee (ALEC) for Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) and railroad planning/status meetings.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree required
  • At least 10-12 years related experience required
  • Highly motivated.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Keen understanding of global supply chain and the various sources that drive change.
  • Leadership ability in a logistics environment.
  • Strong negotiation skills.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor's Degree Required and At Least 10-12 years related experience required.

WORK ENVIRONMENT                                              

  • Required Travel: 30% Travel Required
  • Office Location: Camden, NJ; apart of the Greater Philadelphia Area (Philly) 
  • Hybrid Role: Remote work 2 days per week (After 90 Days Onboarding)


COMPENSATION: The recruiting base salary range for this full-time position is $118200-$160000 / year. Within the range, individual pay is determined by factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Additionally, this role is bonus-eligible, with a target bonus percentage that provides an opportunity to earn even more based on your performance.  (Internal Job Grade: M2)
